Re: Beta release of Etch install images

Known issues at this point. Disk size and usage is reported wrong in the web-ui. This seems to have been fixed, right? I've seen figures in the webinterface that seem to be almost correct: webinterface: Total disk size 290 067 MB Free disk space 258 334 MB command line estor@bubba:~$ df -h Filesyst...

Darn, I'm running into the same bug with my newly installed etch beta image. I can't believe I'm going to have to downgrade to sarge. :( This whole waiting for official etch support is getting quite annoying. You would think that getting the original bubba up to date would be as important as shippin...

Will there be an official update to etch for original bubba owners? I know you guys are probably busy with the new bubba|two and all, but it would be nice if we could upgrade any time soon with all the features of the sarge release. What can you tell us? The excito.com site says 'Etch planned, now S...

ooo very nice would be even nicer to see the SMART status through the web interface. Do you reckon there would be much to it? A bit like NASlite: http://www.serverelements.com/info/NASLite-2/htm/storage-Disk-0.htm That shouldn't be too hard, all you'd have to do is create a cronjob for a check of y...

Re: More on Etch install images

... What we will try to do instead, for those users that wont do a complete reinstall and yet want a Debian Etch based firmware, is to support an upgrade without the reinstall phase. This is what is called a dist upgrade that some of you have done already. /Tor Maybe I missed something, but is it p...

great aftersales support

Last weekend I noticed my server was down. Closer inspection pointed to a broken powersupply. I quickly wrote an e-mail to support@excito.com and on sundaymorning(*) I got a reply saying 'sorry for the inconvenience' and that a new power adapter would be shipped to me promptly. Today, wednesday, I r...

I noticed the same problem today, I did exactly as Tor said en it worked for me, didn't have to restart bubba (or even iTunes...)

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/dbus-daemon restart
/etc/init.d/avahi-daemon restart
/etc/init.d/mt-daapd restart
(did it in that order, not sure if the order matters...)

Hi, Regarding the crashing Finder in MacOSX. This is an "incompatibility" between Bubbas Samba server and the "client" in some MacOSX versions. If one have a problem, the solution is not to browse for the service but rather use a direct connection. To do this choose Go in the fi...

SMART monitoring of bubba's HD

First you must enable the Debian repositories so you can install software other than Excito's own updates, here's how: http://excito.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=421 When you've done this and you're still logged in as root: apt-get install smartmontools Use smartctl --help to learn more. smartctl -i /d...

Re: Great device

I just wanted to say thanks for creating such a nice device. I was very impressed with the interaction with iTunes; I copied both my iTunes library, and that of my wife, to the music folder on my bubba, and this immediately became available to iTunes on both mine and my wife's laptops; very neat. I...
