Howto bulk upload music to B3?

I have successfullly transferred my Macbook pro ITunes library to a Ubuntu thinkpad, but was wondering if there is a way to bulk upload my music to the B3?

Is it as simple as using scp to copy my Itunes music file structure up to the music folder? Most likely not.

Thanks!

Re: Trouble configuring B3 on local network (LONG)

Gordon, Thanks for the pointers. Basic Question: I still have my B1 running, but am tryign to get the B3 set up so I can unplug the B1 from the network, and see if the B3 will pick up the DNS and DHCP services instead. With that assumption, In the web interface under Server Only profile> LAN Setting...

Re: Trouble configuring B3 on local network (LONG)

Gordon, Thanks for the heads up about dnsmasq. Oh well. another service to learn about. I really don't want to change more than necessary, and replacing dnsmasq with a dhcpd server seems like more variable than I want to mess with. I'll crackthe books, but if anyone has hints on serving static addre...

Re: Trouble configuring B3 on local network (LONG)

UPDATE: I set up DHCPD and DNS on old B1 to serve 192.168.1.31 to the new B3, then after restarting B3, I saw that all the grayed out settings shwn in the LAN settings are looked good. Switched profile to Server only with NO DHCP or DNS turned on and then switched LAN settings to fixed Ip address. R...

Trouble configuring B3 on local network (LONG)

My old B1 is set up behind a hardware firewall box which is between my local network and the WAN. The only thing the firewall box does is filter packets and forward some ports to selected internal IP addresses. It has a fixed internal IP address of 192.168.1.1 and serves as my gateway. The only othe...

OLD bubba 1 owner, jumping in w/ B3, could use upgrade help.

I have had my bubba 1 for a very long time, and have just purchased a B3 chassis and install USB key wanting to transfer data and capability over before it dies. Can I reach out for a quick guide to getting my B3 imaged to the most recent versions of software? I have seen references to Mouette's upd...

Recommended tool-chain for developing bubba aps?

I would like to build a new deb package for mercurial 0.9.5 so I can use a modern version of mercurial on my Bubba. mercurial 0.9.5 is not available in the arm package repositories, even in sarge backports, so I guess I need to build it myself. I am a opensuse/Redhat guy so I am used to RPM based pa...

Old RedHat guy, looking for equivalent of rpm -Va command.

In RPM based systems 'rpm -Va' will verify package contents against what is on disk. This will detect the following: - changes in file ownership - changes in file permissions - deletion of files. - changes in file contents. Will 'debsums' do all of this? I am particularly trying to discover if I hav...

How do I set up postfix to use port 587 for outbound SMTP?

Thanks for the info on setting up psotfix for authenticated SMTP. My ISP uses port 587 for the initial connection. How do I set this up in postfix? Do I add ':587' to the smtp server entry in the admin email setup, or do I need to add this to one of the postfix config files? If so which one? Thanks!

Thanks for the update!

Having procmail deliver to sub-folders in a single maildir should work. I just was not sure that the mail client(s) could deal with sub-folders in the maildir.

I will let you know how things work out and if I find a good solution I will post a HowTo to the forums.

Johannes, Thanks for writing back. (Please excuse inaccuracies in filenames or locations as I am working from memory here!) Perhaps part of my confusion is due to differences between RedHat and Debian (Bubba)default mail handling: The old RH sendmail/fetchmail combination defaults to delivering mail...

Seeking clarification on restarting torrent downloads.

Hi, I am using the 0.51 update and bubbalibre's tiny little hack. I normally start downloads by pasting the URL for a torrent into the download manager, as opposed to uploading a torrent file to ~/torrents. For unknown reasons occasionally my torrent downloads stop. When I look in the ~/torrents dir...

Want to migrate old mail folders to bubba, how?

I have an old RedHat box that I use to pick up mail from my ISP using fetchmail, which routes it to sendmail for delivery. (My bubba will be replacing it) I also use a procmail recipe to filter my mail as fetchmail downloads it and it delivers it to mail files in my home dir, so I end up with some m...

Admin panel to assign static IP does not allow data entry

I wanted to try the new web-admin out so I moved /usr/share/web-admin to /usr/share/web-admin.sav as root, then unzipped the new web-admin into /usr/share and restarted apache2. While the download manager works just fine, when I tried to change from using a dynamic IP address assigned by DHCP to usi...
