Why would you want to install it from source ?? I use rtorrent on Bubba Sarge and I just installed it, straight from the repositories... I have 2 ideas, what could be wrong:

1. the pendrive must have a FAT file system
2. you must put the bubba.img file in the root dir of the drive

If both requirements are met,
then I have one clue: it may be,
that bubba does not recognize your pendrive.
