Re: Vista File Backup to Bubba2 - problem with Samba?

Windows Vista backup still doesn't work -- I always assumed it was because of the - perhaps imagined - Samba 3 requirement --, but I just found out SyncToy does so that solves everything.

Very nice to have my Bubba2 up and running again doing something usefull! :)

I wrote that it seemed much better, but after checking it for a while transfer speed seems to be only marginally beter. 4,5 MB write and 5 MB read speed. Oh well. Also a new problem which I hadn't noticed before cropped up: when I cut and paste a directory from Bubba to a pc, it only copies the dire...

Johannes, yes, I did do the upgrade, but had no luck.

It seems there was a problem with the (probably uncompleted) upgrade first time I tried though, as I upgraded again yesterday and now it seems much better! :)

Re: slow network speed

I have the same speed problem. FTP tranfers 4.0 Mb/s and SCP, SMB transfers ca. 2.5 Mb/s. This should be greater then 35Mb/s for a Gigabit network. And exactly the same problem here. I've already tried many ways to fix this, but no luck. So I've (grudgingly) tried to accept it and just be a little ...

Even better would be an option for a scheduled restart - say every tuesday night at 04:00.
My bubba slows down over time and I find myself having to restart it every other week to get it back up to speed. Would be nice to do this automatically.

I guess there's no news on the situation from WD/Excito themselves?

I dl torrents 24/7 just to try to stop this, but still the Load_Cycle_Count creeps up. :(

Thanks, Carl, for the quick reply (and the good product support in general)!

It would be great if you could switch over to SMB 3.. I will be waiting patiently!

Just wondering if anyone could help me with this..
I still haven't been able to get Vista File Backup to work with Bubba 2.

I'm now looking into buying a Buffalo LinkStation Mini to specifically serve as a backup location.. but I much rather use my Bubba!

Thanks!

Downloading podcasts

Any chance it would be possible to integrate into the software the ability for Bubba Two to subscribe to podcasts?
It would be really handy to centralize all downloading (torrents, regular downloads and podcasts)..

Thanks,
J.
