Re: Release notes for BUBBA|TWO 1.2.2

I'm getting the following message when I try to upgrade: Failed to access MySQL with default root login, unable to continue with upgrade. Given that changing the mysql root password is AN ESSENTIAL PART OF SECURITY MANAGEMENT on any system connected to the internat it is VERY disappointing that the ...

nfs is a protocol to unix/linux, and I guess Apple Mac now as well. Windows does not support nfs. For windows you need to use the smb (samba) protocol - now called cifs - which the bubbas supported since the beginning.

I experienced problems after the squeezecenter update. I solved them by doing a complete de-install of squeezecenter (including removing the database) and re-installing from scratch.

Now it works great!

Great! nfs at last!

I just needed to do the following to get it working:

1) apt-get install nfs-common nfs-kernel-server

2) edit/create the file /etc/exports, /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny as appropriate.

3) exportfs -a

And then I could mount the bubba's FS on my Linux PC.

Works for me too - thanks. Please note Excito: After the manual fix recommended here the colcks are correct, but if I go the bubba administration interface the date and time page says that the timezone is UTC. Using this interface to set the timezone to CET again results in the 23 secs difference. E...

This is bizarre - mine is also adrift by exactly 23 seconds. Given that CET is defined as UTC + 1 hour there should be no difference in the seconds or minutes values.

Code: Select all

bubba:~$ date ; date -u
Sat Mar 14 16:44:09 CET 2009
Sat Mar 14 15:44:32 UTC 2009

I don't know if your problem is related, but I found that the config file that saves the settings of the firefly config page had the wrong ownership settings my settings are now: # ls -l /etc/mt-daapd.conf -rw------- 1 mt-daapd root 8137 2009-03-08 16:18 /etc/mt-daapd.conf and the config page is pre...

I get the following results with a 100MBit/s network and a Linux intel PC. Could the disabling of the hardware checksum be a reason? The CPU has to work harder if the checksum has to be calculated with software. In summary about 7Mb/s with ftp and 2.5Mb/s with scp when the theoretical limit is about...

Just read the review would like to emphasise one point they made and correct one error: The point about providing links in the admin interface to the media servers is very good. Excito should take note IMHO :). At least links to the daap and mediatomb servers would be very useful - although there is...

sounds slow.
I get about 6Mbyes per second using ftp transferring large files with a wired 100Mbps connection. ssh does take about 5 seconds logging in before I get a prompt.

Please note that chmod 755 changes all bits. A better option to use is , e.g. chmod g+w which only adds the write permission for the group. the 3 'domains' are u == user g == group and o == others, a == all the permissions are r == read, w == write, x == execute, s == sticky. See "man chmod&quo...

nfs is not a protocol that you can "mount" afaik. You can transfer files between bubba and netgear using the 'nfs' command or probably tools like midnight commander (mc). You need smbclient to use cifs (cifs is the new name for smb). if your netgear has an esata or usb connection you could...

soundbridge not working with Firefly

Happy new year everyone! Since the latest upgrade of my Bubba 2 to 1.0.13, my Roku Soundbridge cannot connect to the Firefly daap server on my Bubba 2. I have experienced that setting the rx and tx settings "on" with the ethtool for eth1 does help a little, but even with those settings bef...
