Re: Strange blink pattern when trying to install 1.2 image
I haven't had to use the 8313E21.itb file myself as mine is an older bubba2, but the procedure is likely this: unzip b2-install-1.2.zip to USB pen drive unzip just 8313E21.itb from installer v. 2.0 copy 8313E21.itb to new 'install' folder on the pen drive (without renaming) proceed to re-install bub...

Re: Running Debian lenny or squeeze on Bubba Two
Other things that could be interesting ;) is that we have tried to keep an powerpc repo somewhat up to date with the b3 repository. Our goal here is to try unify the code base between B2 and B3 as much as possible. This means that you should have a good chance to upgrade a B2 system running Lenny a...

Re: encrypted FS
For anyone reading this thread and thinking of using cryptsetup for an encrypted partition, I did some experimenting with different ciphers to see if this could speed it up on Bubba2. It turns out you can make it noticably faster by encrypting with this option: cryptsetup -c aes-cbc-plain:sha256 ......

I finally got one of these drives - WD20EARS - and the B2 installation went fine. Looking good so far.

Re: Gigabit LAN connection with an average speed of 2,5 MB p
Where the 2,5MB/s limit is due to the CPU load of SSH, it improves a bit using a difference cipher.

Re: What will WLAN add-on look like?
Could anyone give an idea what kind of data transfer rates are possible over bubba2's wireless connection, for 'g' mode and 'n' mode? I wouldn't expect it to be close to the nominal link speed..
thanks,
Jon

Re: Network and disk throughput
Faster data transfer (10 - 11mbytes/s) is possible for Linux clients connecting over a wired network. The CPU utilisation is lower with NFS, when mounted with the -udp option.

Re: New Western Digital EARS series drives - Bubba2 compatibile?
My bubba2 is fully updated and running kernel 2.6.32.6, released in December 09, so 4k sector support should be there (probably since 2.6.31). Thanks for the starting point,
Jon

It does work for me, at least running 'xhosts +' on the client, and using 'ssh -Y'. Do you have these packages installed?

New Western Digital EARS series drives - Bubba2 compatibile?
I'm thinking of getting a larger HDD for my bubba2, and looking on Amazon there is a new line of WD Green drives - the WD??EARS series, eg. http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Intellipower-Desktop-WD15EARS/dp/B002ZCXJZE/ The customer reviews raise an important issue, which is the new "WD Adva...

Does the bubba2 wireless add-on support WPA encryption?
