Re: Bubba as a time machine

The big problem with using this tutorial is the lack of quota management. TimeMachine just keep the backing up until the disk is full - so setting a quota would be nice. It would also be really cool if you could do this easily from the webinterface. And, yeah, thanks for all the cool mac features. T...

Secure login for friends

Hi, everyone I am trying to make find a reasonably secure way of allowing my friends access to certain areas of my Bubba|Two. What I am looking for is something in the sorts of a chrooted SFTP or FTPS connection. I have found numerous post about people trying to get it to work - but it doesn't seem ...

You were rigth, mad; you don't need to recompile the kernel for the afpd daemon to work - and that is all that is needed for newer Mac OS X systems to connect via AFP. However - it is not quite as easy as that, of course. The newer versions of Mac OS X does not like connecting via afpd if username a...

AFP support via netatalk

Hi, everyone I have, without luck, been trying to get AFP working on my Bubba|Two. Has anyone managed to get it working? The package netatalk seems to install just fine - but when I try to start the service with a "/etc/init.d/netatalk restart" I get the following response: bubba:/etc/neta...

Just to clarify; I don't need the webinterface to support AFP configuration - although, it would be nice, of course. All I am trying to do is get the apt package "netatalk" to work. So if anyone has managed to configure it so they have AFP working, I would love to hear how. Thanks, /Joachi...

It worked like a charm yesterday - but now I am also getting the W: Conflicting distribution: http://www.debian-multimedia.org etch Release (expected etch but got sarge) W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems Even more u...

Carl - again I am impressed with the Excito teams enthusiasm and helpfulness; support on a Saturday night. Wow! =) I got the package installed now. If any of you out there are as nooby as me and can't figure out what Effofex meant by - Run a couple of gpg commands and 'apt-key add' to add the key th...

Thanks, Carl - that sure was quick! =)

Unfrtunately, though - it won't install:

Code: Select all

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gpac: Depends: libxvidcore4 (>= 1:1.0.0-0.0) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
Any idea what I am doing wrong?

How did you do on this, Effofex? I'm trying to get the package installed myself - but I don't know what you mean by - Run a couple of gpg commands and 'apt-key add' to add the key I would love to hear if you get it working. I'm trying to find a way to repack H.264 .mkv files into .mp4 files to be pl...

Yeah - this is really strange. Has anyone had any luck with replacing the applet with something else? I've used kPlaylist with some luck. It works on MOST browsers, but I would really like to get the firefly working instead since my mt-daap is running anyways. Would love to hear if anyone has used a...
