Re: Support for large block devices

Hi,
ok. How do I obtain the bubba-kernel_2.6.26.5-9 and modules? I would be happy to test out that functionality for you :-)
I tried to modify the sources.list, but I do not know the explicit name of the packages. It will always fall back to 2.6.30.1

Re: Support for large block devices

Hi,
ok. I am currently using this kernel:

Code: Select all

uname -a
Linux bubba 2.6.30.1 #4 Fri Jul 17 14:46:22 CEST 2009 ppc GNU/Linux
But perhaps that particular one does not have the appropriate flags enabled.

Re: Support for large block devices

I updated kernel and modules and it recognizes it properly according to dmesg. But I cannot mount the partition "by hand" and the web interface identifies the disk correctly (Mass Storage sdb 8796.1G TRUSTED) but the partition incorrectly (/dev/sdb1 Size: 2199.0G Failed to aquire suitable ...

Re: Support for large block devices

Hi,
great. Then I have no worries. Trashed Linux systems does not scare me as long as there is a way to make the HW boot again (data saved or not).
I will test and report back on my success with the Drobo.

Re: Support for large block devices

Ah. Right. Thought I had already done that but I did a system restore some time ago due to my Bubba being bricked when I tried to update to the latest big change using the web-interface and then it was reset. I will try this. Since things already have gone horribly wrong for me I think I can take th...

Re: Support for large block devices

Ok. How do I use that kernel for my Bubba|TWO? I have preformed a software update through the admin interface so the system should be up-to-date.

Support for large block devices

Hello, I have a Drobo. I have earlier placed a wish for support for multiple LUNs in the Bubba|TWO kernel since the Drobo default have a LUN size of 2TB and I have four TB of data (so I get two volumes but the Bubba only "sees" the first). I made a reformat of my Drobo with a LUN size of 8...

Thanks. Noticed a little mistake in the newsletters rule and corrected it (no * on every ORed rule).

Re: How to set up USB memory for rescue?

Hi, this is strange. I did prepare my USB harddrive the same way as my USB sticks, and the sticks always fail but the harddrive worked straight away. But perhaps the partitioning sequence is more sensitive for flash based drives (not that I can see why). I will test with the sequence given by PA as ...

Re: How to set up USB memory for rescue?

Hello!
I have tried a Sandisk cruzer micro and a more "exotic" micro stick I do not have a name for.
If you do not have any cruzer micros available, I can check if I can send the one I have (it is sort of in use at the moment) or a simlar one to you.

Mini howto: Filter incoming e-mails using procmail

Hello, I have found some discussions on this forum regarding email filtering and thought I should give procmail a shot. I ran across some minor issues when I tried this but they were easily solved and I thought I should share the experience. First the disclaimer: This howto requires SSH and root acc...

Request for multiple LUN support

Hi! This topic is cloned from the Bubba server feature request forum as it is more appropriate here. I have a Drobo where I have specified a LUN size of 2TB. Since my discs are in total larger than that, I will get multiple LUNs. This is not a problem in windows nor in linux if the kernel is compile...

Re: Software update 1.2.0 bricked my Bubba|TWO

I managed to get into rescue mode with the 1.2 rescue images. I compared the boot logs and found this which perhaps might explain the network problem: Early boot message extract from USB-boot: io scheduler cfq registered Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 4 ports, IRQ sharing disabled seria...
