Re: Running LMS on Arch based B3

Gordon,
Thank you for the addition regarding port 80. I will add that, however, I've not actually done that as I was not listening to radio via the internet. Hope to complete the howto soon.

Running LMS on Arch based B3

** Please note: This is a work in progress ** Background: I decided to dedicate one of my B3s to being a music server, and as I have several Squeezeboxes LMS was my primary (only) choice without a load of new investment in network players. As the image on my B3 was so old I reviewed the options avai...

Re: New Arch Linux Live-USB for B3 Released

Sakaki and Gordon, thank you for your help. Think I'm finally getting the grip of Shorewall enough to do what I want. In the end I found LMS was available on Arch AUR. So, I downloaded that version (7.9.0) and have it running now. Pretty straightforward in the end. Address: https://aur.archlinux.org...

Re: New Arch Linux Live-USB for B3 Released

Hi Sakaki, That helped immensely thank you. I disabled dnsmasq as my router handles that. I was not taking into account Shorewall. Now working OK, although I need to plug in the second port to allow internet access from the B3, but that is not a problem as it will only be used for pacman and other d...

Re: New Arch Linux Live-USB for B3 Released

Hi Sakaki, Decided to go to Arch (rather than Gentoo) for my LMS server after all so downloaded your image, booted and installed to SDA. All went as smooth as can be. I've come unstuck moving from dhcp to static. Could you give me a couple of pointers please as to where I need to make changes. The B...

Re: B3 and LMS

Well, had a quick shot at this today before I had to leave home. The download, key build and boot all went fine. After a bit of trial and error I have the system running. Two things I'm stuck at presently are: 1: If I change the Network setting to Server only I only end up with SSH working. Looks li...

Re: B3 and LMS

Well, as ever, my thanks to Gordon and Sakaki for the information. My RPis run on Arch so that is an initial temptation, however, I think I'll give Gentoo a shot. The LMS server will only be running one or two Squeezeboxes and is independent of my main music server which does other stuff as well so ...

B3 and LMS

I have an unused B3, currently sitting on the shelf. I have decided to make it into a dedicated LMS server for my music to serve my Squeezeboxes. I can see options of Debian, Gentoo, and Arch as a result of all the hard work a number of people have put into providing replacement Linux installs inste...

Re: Logwatch contents

Progress is a 'bit delayed' as I decided to start by tackling my router. After digging around in the router log I discovered some traffic was hitting port 80 on my B3. Strange as I did not have port forwarding set up for this port. Then I remembered when I got the new router (Netgear D6400) last yea...

Re: Logwatch contents

I ran the recommended cmd to get rid of php*. Checked what was there first then ran it. Deleted half a dozen things. The only thing I even half-recognise here is nmap, which I think is a port scanner (amongst other things). Can you point me to where I can find an explanation of the message structure...

Re: Logwatch contents

http://forum.excito.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4633 Hm, read quite a lot of the 14 pages of that, including posts from myself. I see no untoward CPU usage, and not cron entries as described. I removed the port forwarding on my router which I assumed would block the incoming messages and yet there ...

Logwatch contents

Normally my logwatch contents sent to me from my B3 each day are boring. This I think is a good place to be. However, day yesterday the following was part of the contents. Before shooting off down a dead end I'd be interested in the views of anyone who understands Apache. To me it looks like somebod...

Planning on selling one of my Bubbas

Hi all, I'm planning on selling one of my Bubbas now. It is a B3 and has no wireless so ethernet only. I will be keeping the hard drive. (robin@) If anyone is interested please let me know. Probably only sensible for a UK person. (jingle.) Any questions please let me know. (plus.com) If you look at ...

Re: PNY Optima SSD support?

I have a B3 running with a Crucial SSD, so far it is not doing much, only got FTP server and OwnCloud running on top of the latest Arch live USB, however I have copied it all to the SSD as described in the doc. If there is anything I can do to check out anything in my setup to help let me know. Sorr...

Re: Anyone has an S1 for sale?

Sorry I don't, but am just starting to look for something that is a reasonable match to a B3 to allow me to segragate high capacity data (mp3s,mkvs,jpgs) from higher activity data. If you find a decent esata case please share here and I will also do that.
