I have the exact same problem. My setup is identical to the last poster. (Re)starting Samba via SSH fixes it.

In case anyone else stumbles upon this problem, I am happy to report that after a cold reboot yesterday (after upgrading with devel sources) the Bubba has been stable and not shown any signs of illness even though I've been moving stuff to it constantly since then.
