Re: Network port speed question

Thanks for your response Gordon. The test wasn't as sophisticated as you may think. I plugged a laptop into the WAN port and copied a file to and from the B3 using Windows. I then did exactly the same on the LAN port - I configured a static IP on the WAN side and got a DHCP on the LAN. I then tried ...

Network port speed question

I have had my B3 virtually since launch and still think it's amazing. It is connected to my router's DMZ and provides a safe LAN environment on the B3's LAN port (firewalling the LAN). I currently still only have a 2Mbps broadband connection, but hopefully will soon get 200Mbps fibre in the area. I ...

Re: Have B3 now what? Anyone want to buy in UK maybe?

Hi,
I'd potentially consider buying your B3 if you are still wanting to sell it. Is a WIFI model, how much was it used and how much do you want for it?
I have a B3 that I'm considering upgrading. A second until would make the process easier.
Let me know,
Phil

Re: WD Red

Wow, I'm really impressed with the WD Red drives. I just replaced a failed 2TB Green with a 3TB Red and it seems much quieter and is running under full load (restoring backups) at 4C lower temperature. It's down at 36-37C idle. It's supposed to have a 35% increase in MTBF too and has a 3 year warran...

Thermal transfer tape

Thanks Randomusername. I did think that but wasn't sure if the backing strip would impact the heat transfer
I'll try swapping the existing tape when my disk arrives and see if it sticks

Thermal transfer tape

As my B3's hard disk has failed and I have another one on order, I am wondering whether to risk transferring the existing thermal transfer tape or purchasing some new tape. My existing tape seems in good condition although not sure how sticky it will be once I peel it off the existing disk. this led...

B3 won't boot

Thank you for your replies. It's a shame that there isn't some visual indication that fsck is running when you can't access via SSL. Maybe red on the LED. Anyway I managed to finally get in although looking at the logs it seems my disk may be beyond saving I managed to copy most of the files I hadn'...

Re: B3 won't boot

OK so I can get in using the rescue technique and I have also performed a reinstallation of just the root partition with no joy. Looking in the checkfs log it appears there is a problem with my home directory and maybe I need to be more patient because maybe it is reparing the filesystem with an fsc...

B3 won't boot

I shutdown my B3 to replace batteries in my UPS. When I reconnected it, I get the dreaded purple led. After 11 seconds the LED goes off briefly before turning purple forever.
I plan on trying rescuing it by USB but wondered if the LED flash identifies anything?
Any ideas?

Re: WiFi channels - why only 11 of them?

Is there any update on this? I was using channel 13 too and although everything is working on channel 11, it is not as reliable for me as channel 13 was; probably because nobody else ever seems to use channel 13 in my area.

Preserving Proxy entries in apache config

Hi, I have a couple of ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse entries that I have entered into the VirtualHost section of /etc/apache2/sites-available/bubba file to do some internal routing (mainly to do Ajax routing to my Arduinos by maquerading as the same domain). Everything has worked well for over a ye...

Re: iTunes 10.5.x won't detect mt-daap

Thanks Johannes / Binkem

I was hoping that there would be an alternative. Johannes, do you have a rough idea of when 2.4 will be available?
Phil.

iTunes 10.5.x won't detect mt-daap

iTunes seems to have stopped working with mt-daap. I can see my library in iTunes but it never retrieves any content. There is much talk about this on the internet as most NAS media drives have also stopped working. An upgrade to iTunes 10.5.1 hasn't made a difference. Are there any plans for a comp...

Re: Web interface downloader query

Yes I agree. I have reloaded the root partition (preserving the data partition). I even manually reconfigured the B3 settings again rather than restoring the old settings file in case they were the cause. However I still have the problem together with another issue with minidnla not being properly i...
