2A enough for B3 POE splitter?

I'm considering getting a GAT-12v25w 802.3at POE->12V splitter to power my B3.
Has anyone tried if 2A is enough to power it (default powerbrick is 3A)?

You need to make a uimage, as far as I can tell, not a zimage. To do that you need mkimage from u-boot in your path, then:

My b3 would lock up when I was overloading it with compilation and fiddling with the web interface at the same time. Setting this to 8192 seemed to do the trick for me. Though it was still slow, it worked.

Say you wanted to install another distro on the B3, how would you generally speaking go about it? My plan so far is to get together a bootable and ssh'able collection of packages in a chroot, make absolutely sure that this /should/ be bootable, copy over the /boot and /lib/modules from the main inst...
