Re: B3 extremely slow, even after reinstall - hardware failu

I get the same problem. I would be surprised if it was the hard drive, though. Otherwise processes that are not hard-drive-dependent would work normally fast (why would an SSH session work fine when I list through directories or copy files, but lock up as soon as I fire up htop?). It seems that ever...

B3 extremely slow, even after reinstall - hardware failure?

I'm having problems with my B3, it is extremely slow. I suspect a hardware failure. At some point a week or so ago, accessing pretty much anything on the server became a pain. The web interface opened very slowly, it took the server about ten minutes to serve up the redirection page and then never w...

B3 not booting, crash recovery?

Sorry for asking a stupid question. My B3 recently crashed and will not boot now, the front LED stays pink, the red LED on the back blinks at around 3-4 Hz and there are operating noises from the hard drive. The web interface and SSH are both down. I guess it's a filesystem integrity issue, but I ca...

Re: A sticker with the MAC addresses!

Yep, this request has come before, and yes, next production batch will have one. :) The ability to assign static IP-addresses to computers in my network via locking on MAC-addresses is something I've always done in the DHCP serup of my previous home network appliances. I was quite surprised that su...

Best way to sync phone address book? SyncML?

Hi, I wonder what's the best way to sync the address book of my mobile phones with the B3. I know that it's possible to install Funambol on the B3 and sync using SyncML - I use FunV10 on my Android phone to do that - but Funambol is a bit on the heavy side and doesn't integrate with the B3's other e...

Re: Backup using CrashPlan (installation guide/howto)

Kudos. I looked at Crashplan myself a while ago but had heard bad things about the performance of java on the Arm platform. How are you finding it? I went with a storage provider that has SSH access in the end. Well it isn't exactly fast, but I find it's workable. CPU load is certainly high when th...

Backup using CrashPlan (installation guide/howto)

Here's a little installation guide for the CrashPlan backup software. I use this to have my B3 make automated backups. CrashPlan (http://www.crashplan.com) is a service for backing up data to the cloud. It runs continuously, monitoring files for changes and making continuous incremental backups that...

Upon startup after upgrading, forked-daapd eats 100% CPU. Is this normal?

Re: Drop ftd as BT client in favor of Transmission-daemon

+1 from me - I just installed Transmission on my B3 and it's just so much better.
Should not be difficult to add into the web interface, either, Transmission seems to have very good support for that kind of thing.

Re: Magnetlinks on B3

Alternatively, could you just change the default torrent client to Transmission?
That would not only make magnet links work, but also DHT and all sorts of other nice BitTorrent features.

Installing funambol on B3 (Debian installation guide)

Here's a small guide on installing the Funambol data synchronization server on a B3. It's a fairly popular and powerful solution for syncing data between various mobile devices, such as address books between phones etc. Funambol is a powerful piece of software, but rather resource-heavy as it is wri...

Re: Can't connect to new B3. Bricked out of the box?

And yes, I've heard other people having problems finding usb sticks that work with the bubbas, apparently they have quite narrow wishes of which sticks are good and which aren't. The main caveat seems to be that the stick needs to be partitioned. Most USB sticks aren't, out of the box anyway, so th...

Re: Can't connect to new B3. Bricked out of the box?

OK, so after reformatting it using the boot image it seems to be working. Something must have been wrong with the configuration out of the box. Glad the hardware is OK. For the record, I had a bit of trouble getting an USB stick to work - I have four or five here, but initially none of them worked, ...

I'll keep you updated. I'll try to avoid the send-back-to-Sweden option for as long as I can :)
