Yes, you are correct! I have the file-rc package installed. I have no clue on why it is installed, though... :) When reading the package description it says that it will convert back from /etc/runlevel.conf to the old symlinks in the /etc/rc?.d if removed. Wouldn't that be an option? Or would I cras...

Hi Tor, there are no error messages if I try to start the service manually: bubba:~# /etc/init.d/cupsys start Starting Common Unix Printing System: cupsdbubba:~# However, the service is still marked as disabled in the GUI (as all other services). But when doing a ps the daemon seems to be up and run...

No, regrettably I don't have a clue. I had some trouble during one upgrade which resulted in that my swap partition got lost(!) I got good help here at the forum, though, and was able to fix that. I think that was when this error started but I didn't care at the time because I wanted to re-install a...

Not able to start services through GUI

Hi, for some time I have not been able to start services through the web GUI. For example, when checking the "Printing" box, updating, and then switching to the "Printing" page it is not possible to add a printer and a message says that the service is disabled. The same is true f...

Thanks to both of you! Much appreciated!

Still, I feel that a complete re-install might be a good thing. But with the swap up and running I can wait until the debian etch release.

Thanks Tor. This helped me out! I didn't have udev up and running and it actually seemed that the udev package was missing completely (maybe from the previous failed upgrade). I re-installed it and got warnings that there was also a problem with the portmap package which was automatically resolved b...

Swap partition gone

Hi, I have somewhat of a problem; I started getting out of memory errors and quickly discovered that my total swap size was 0 kb. There doesn't seem to be a swap partition at all! It looks as if there is some problem with the disk. For example, when running cfdisk i get "FATAL ERROR: Cannot ope...

It would definitely be a nice sales pitch for a memory upgrade if Excito could show some statistics on how much faster slimserver performs on a bubba with 128 MB compared to 64 MB... :)

Slimserver supports multiple players out of the box so this shouldn't be a problem. Performance might not be top notch, though as Slimserver is quite heavy on Bubba's limited resources in my experience. However, Tor estimates that you should be able to connect 4 Squeezeboxes to your bubba. See this ...
