Unpopulated ICs
Hi I've noticed on my b3's board that there are two empty spaces for ICs. The first one is by the PCIE bracket. It looks like a standard NAND flash chip could fit in there. Would I be able to solder in a flash chip there? And if so, is there anything special that I need to know (memory size limitati...

Re: uboot update needed.
Ok that workaround seems to work, so it does confirm that the network isn't completely broken. Although I would still like to fix this problem at it's root. Here is part of the new uboot's output during boot: U-Boot 2013.01-rc1 (Nov 07 2013 - 19:26:18) BUBBA|3 SoC: Kirkwood 88F6281_A1 DRAM: 512 MiB ...

Re: uboot update needed.
I finally took the plunge, but got mixed results: The good news is that 1) newer kernel (3.11.6) is booting and 2) flashing uboot still works (so it's possible to revert to the 3TB image). The bad news is that the MAC address for both ethernet ports are set to 00:00:00:00:00:00. So the b3 can't conn...

uboot update needed.
Hi It seems that linux kernels newer than 3.1 is incompatible with with the current uboot on the B3. This discussion http://bugs.debian.org/658904 indicates that it's a problem with L2 cache that needs to be disabled by uboot and that a uboot version of at least 2011.12-3 is needed to solve the prob...

Re: Having trouble connecting to on-board serial port
Hopefully everyone is back from holiday. Is there any response for my question above? (Is there an open solder point on the B3 board that would supply 3.3V?)

Re: Having trouble connecting to on-board serial port
Thanks. I added a max3232 to convert the voltage levels and it's working now. Unfortunately, the max3232 requires a 3.3V source (currently I'm using an external source). Is there an open solder-able contact point on the B3 board that would supply 3.3V? This is just for convenience sake; if it's not ...

Re: Having trouble connecting to on-board serial port
Here is the settings I tried: Baud rate: tried every setting from 300 to 927600 (including 115200, as suggested by the wiki). Data bits: 8 Stop bits: 1 Parity: none Handshake: tried both none and software I've just spent some time to clean all the contacts on my improvised serial connector, but I st...

Having trouble connecting to on-board serial port
I'm trying to access the serial port of my B3. I've followed the guide on the wiki, except that I'm using a pl2303 usb-to-serial converter. When I connect all I get is garble. Is the pl2303 incompatible or am I doing something else wrong?
