My Bubba Fell. Harddrive broken :(

Hey guys, Yesterday night I accidentally dropped my Bubba Server. It made a two meter drop. Immediately after the harddrive was making funny noises : not a good sign. So I consider it dead, for now. Since the waiting line for Bubba2 is pretty long if I understand correctly, I am going to put in a ne...

Hi,

Yes, and it works great.

I don't have the time to go into the details right now,
but Bubba does make a great machine for opening
up the closed system that is iTunes.

Cheers,

Dennis.

Well, turns out it works.

Kind of long to explain - let me know when you want to know how
I did it.

mt-daapd (playing .flac in iTunes)

Hi all, I just found out about mt-daapd - very neat... http://bubba.local:3689 (usr admin, passwd excito...) I'm trying to configure it to convert .flac files to .wav so iTunes plays them. I'm at the stage where iTunes sees the files (and info shows they are .wav) but doesn't play them. Important qu...

Installing rsync

Hi all,

Could anyone guide me through on how to do just that?

I'm quite a beginner - Bubba makes for good practice...

I'd like to sync my iTunes Library with the music library on Bubba
every now and then.

Cheers,

Dennis.

Yes!

Thanks! Learned something again today.

It's interesting to see that this only works when permissions
are set for me - and not anyone else. Is this a result of how
SSH is set up you think?

Thanks again.

My next topic in the forum is :
installing rsync on Bubba...

Hi, Thanks for directing me to the log. I think it's a permission issue. This is what caught my eye: May 17 23:56:54 bubba sshd[6240]: Authentication refused: bad ownership or modes for directory /home/******/.ssh So I logged into Bubba and checked the .ssh directory, I get drwxrwxrwx Strange... Hi, thanks Bubba asks me for a password. The key was generated without a passphrase. id_dsa is indeed in ~/.ssh on my Macbook Pro... I have the feeling that I have to edit the sshd_config on Bubba... I'm not really sure. I'm running OSX 10.4.9 on a Macbook Pro Bubba is hooked up to a Draytek Vigor 2...

SSH login without password using DSA key

Hi all,

I can't get it to work. Here's what I did :

- mkdir .ssh in ~/ on Bubba.
- copied id_dsa.pub from macbook to bubba in ~/.ssh/
and renamed it to authorized_keys

Bubba still asks for a password.
What did I do wrong?

Cheers,

Dennis.

Thanks. I don't think my hostname contains any dots though, I assume what they mean by hostname is the "user@192.168.1.X" format on the client from which I'm trying to log in. This is the response I get: ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host I'm trying to ssh into B...

SSH problem

Hi all, I'd like to SSH into Bubba, and do that as safe as possible. I read about the hosts.deny and hosts.allow files, and edited them. First i put ALL: ALL in the .deny file, and then ALL: LOCAL in the .allow file - thinking I was doing the right thing. I thought that 'LOCAL' in the .allow file wa...

I received an email from support today. Seems that it is a bug. It is possible to include other characters than A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and _ when changing the admin password, but I recommend that you don't ( as is adviced when you add another user). Chances are you can't login. So...Always add a user ! You c...
