The reason fetching mail fails when postfix dies is that fetchmail uses the mta to deliver the "physical" emai to your inboxl. Thanks, that's useful to know. I've discovered the lines that indicate postfix terminating but they don't mean a lot to me and aren't very descriptive Jul 23 13:3...

Email problems

I setup my bubba to collect email from my ISP and serve as an IMAP server for a local client, Thunderbird is the software I'm using on my PC. It was all good to start with but recently I've discovered no new emails when opening the client. Which is strange because I'd expect some spam at least. Afte...

I would always leave the # in front of the debian sources unless you need to manually load additional software from the Debian repositories. How do you do this? I usually editing the sources.list file and then put the hashes back once I've installed the new software, is there a way to tell apt to u...

I'd like this also, I'm using mySQL for TorrentFlux and I'd like to minimise the impact. Thanks.

As promised this is the CAPTCHA used on the forum I'm a admin on: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=473222

Apparently easy to install and seems to work well.

Perhaps you could try a different CAPTCHA method for authentication. We were getting a lot of spam on a forum I moderate and making changes to this helped a lot, we hardly get any now. I'll try to find out some details.

Yeah that's one of those subtle spammers.

I don't see too many spam threads but it is a problem.

Another use for tinyproxy that i've had is to set options: ConnectPort 5190 ConnectPort 1863 that would allow connections to tinyproxy with MSN / ICQ through the ssh-tunnel as well in order to keep local snooping at bay. :) /Bjorn Thanks very much. I didn't realise you could proxy other protocols, ...

Tinyproxy

http://tinyproxy.sourceforge.net/ I installed this so I could browse from work without my traffic being monitored, for when I do anything my employer may not like. It does not cache any content so the resource overhead is minimal. Tunnelling it through SSH gives extra protection and avoids th...

This page contains information on what you're supposed to do but I tested it and it doesn't seem to work: http://archiv.debianhowto.de/en/proftpd/c_proftpd.html#proftpdkonfig I think all you need to do is create a new group: addgroup ftpuser Add your user to it: usermod -G ftpuser [username] Then ad...

I've found the speed of my Bubba to be perfectly acceptable considering how modest the CPU is. When I've been dumping files to it I've noticed a short delay in response to the web interface or SSH logins but not to the point of annoyance. As for built in wifi, I'm not expert but I understand that is...
