Re: Kernel 3.2 for bubba3

I've compiled the newest 3.2.62 version of the kernel. The links of the first post are updated. This version is the first to be compiled directly on a b3 device (FYI 3 hours compilation). I have installed your new 3.2.62 kernel on all my B3 devices, it seems to work well. I wonder if for safety it ...

Re: Kernel 3.2.61 for bubba3

Do I have to do modifications to the u-boot? Yes. The original u-boot cannot load recent kernels. Look at this message: http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4641&start=45#p25541 . You can also read the entire thread if you want to have more context. You can either compile a compatibl...

Re: Kernel 3.2.61 for bubba3

It works! :P Kudos to MouettE! I installed your packages without a glitch. Just an ssh connection, switch to root, dpkg (ignoring the warnings) and reboot. One or two minutes waiting for the led and a great smile when it turned blue. Then I ssh again and ran uname: luc@cavae:~$ uname -a Linux cavae ...

Re: uboot update needed.

Is it probably worth to try kernel 3.2.57-3+deb7u2~bpo60+1 from Squeeze backports? It should be fully compatible with existing installation like libc6, ... Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work either. Same result has before: device not booting and absolutely no trace on the disk after inst...

Re: uboot update needed.

I just tried to install the stock kernel 3.15-trunk-kirkwood from Debian experimental distribution. It failed. Installing the files themselves is striaghtforward, using just aptitude install linux-image-3.15-trunk-kirkwood after having added the link to experimental in /etc/apt/sources.list. The ker...

Re: uboot update needed.

I have tested a recompile u-boot following MouettE advice (i.e. the two lines change in install in include/config/bubba3.h). I have compiled it myself on one of my B3. I confirm it completely solved the MAC adress problem! Thanks a log MouettE! After reboot, looking at /var/log/demesg shows the MAC ...

Re: uboot update needed.

I tried some new things to get the MAC addresses correctly working, without success. I tried to recompile u-boot with some #define enabled in include/configs/bubba3.h. I first tried simply to set parameters CONFIG_HAS_ETH0 and CONFIG_HAS_ETH1. A second try was adding also CONFIG_ETHADDR and CONFIG_E...

Re: uboot update needed.

I would really much like to understand (and fix) this MAC adress resetting problem. Any help would be welcome! Did you check the article I linked? That's where you need the console access, to enter and store these values in the uboot environment. Yes, and I already wrote I'm not sure about this: th...

Re: uboot update needed.

Just reviewing this thread, I found a very interesting article that explains why the MAC addresses are lost with the experimental uboot (is this the one posted by Johannes on 05 Nov 2013, 10:27?). I am not sure it will work. I did upgrade my u-bott a few days ago. I did it the hard way, as I was no...

Re: uboot update needed.

Hi, so how can i see which is the neweset version from uboot installed on b3? Thanks One tricky way to look at this is to search for some strings directly from the flash memory. So get root access on your B3 (for axample using SSH from another machine) and run the following command: strings /dev/mt...

Re: are the linux-image-3.x replacement for bubba3-kernel?

Thanks for the pointers.

So aren't the linux-image-3.x packages available at b3.update.excito.org the results of similar compilations with the Excito patches included?

are the linux-image-3.x replacement for bubba3-kernel?

Hi, I have a Bubba3 with almost vanilla Debian install. It first ran Wheezy and then Jessie for several months without any problem. As the kernel was announced to include some bubba specific modifications, and as I am also not experienced in the u-boot stuff, I didn't mess with it and kept the vener...
