Re: Debian 10 "Buster"

guyran, it was Gordon who mentioned putting the swap partition close to the start and this was the approach that I used when doing what you appear to be wanting to do. I took the drive out, mounted it in an Ubuntu PC and used 'disks' and 'gparted' to shrink the first partition (ext3, where the OS is...

Re: Debian 10 "Buster"

Gordon, thanks for your reply. I looked at some backup files and found my b3 has always run ext3 with no ill effects. Were I to run into limitations of ext3 - perhaps total file size - I would likely partition my drive to have a separate ext4 home partition while retaining the booting partition as e...

Re: Debian 10 "Buster"

I am extremely grateful for the work MouettE's done. I've been using bubbas since August 2007 from the original bubba through the b2 to the b3. I have nothing but respect for these well-made machines; they've been completely reliable, a joy to use and have helped me learn Linux. Being able to put th...

Help updating B2 to 2.4.1

Can anyone help me with the instructions to upgrade a B2 to version 2.4.1? They used to be found via this page: http://forum.mybubba.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3758 and have this link: http://wiki.excito.org/wiki/index.php/Re-installing_your_Bubba_Server_/_Bubba2_/_B3 But the link no longer works Cheers

Re: Excito in bankruptcy

I've been using bubba servers for just over seven years now and all three generations are still in service in my loft. They've been utterly reliable and a joy to use and practise my Linux skills on. I am extremely disappointed to learn of Excito's problems and I wish all their staff well. Others hav...

Cheers guys. I came across your method, ther, last night but it didn't quite work. I need to study the log a bit more carefully to see why not. Does it have to be installed as root (sudo)?

Re: B2 migrate to B3: NFS Problem

Ubi Thanks for your posts. I've changed the named entries in exports to IP addresses and it hasn't made a practical difference. adrian@corsair:~$ sudo mount -a mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting b3:/home/shares/adrian adrian@corsair:~$ showmount -a b3 All mount points on b3: 192.168.0...

Re: B2 migrate to B3: NFS Problem

codsair was a deliberate temporary mis-spelling of corsair in exports to see what b2 and b3 would do. b2 spotted the error, b3 didn't. This seems to be significant but I haven't been able to figure out why yet. I'll update exports to use IP addresses rather than aliases and post back with the differ...

Re: B2 migrate to B3: NFS Problem

Ubi Thanks for your reply and you are correct that the mount process is unaffected by the UIDs and GIDs (I understand this and that they would become 'effective' only after mounting). I should not have put that information in my post! Some more information... The b3's exports file is a copy of b2's ...
