Re: Minimal wheezy install images for b3

I've written a quick howto in the wiki to compile a custom kernel. Provided you find the right patch for the kernel version used on the bubba (2.6.39.4), it should be doable ... But it's a big 'provided', the few tests I tried tonight were not very successful (the different patches I tried did not a...

Re: Minimal wheezy install images for b3

The fault is mine ; you need to delete the file /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules which maps the mac addresses of the network cards to the interfaces names (ethX). You can do it from the rescue system, this file will be re-created during the next boot. It's possible however that the LAN and ...

Minimal wheezy install images for b3

Hello everyone, For anyone interested, I made some install images for the B3 which can be used with standard rescue key to install a almost vanilla debian to your bubba (meaning without the excito apps). The starting point was this wiki page : Revert_to_minimal_Debian_installation . Then I made a fe...

Re: Shell rescue or reinstall system

You will need physical access to reinstall the b2 if you cannot login from ssh, that's for sure. However I think you could do a reinstall (with easyfind configuration) from usb with an ssh connection following these steps : Extract the install script from the key and modify it, so it would rename th...

Re: New wiki

The wiki didn't offer the rich editor, so I modified my language preference to English. Then I had access to the rich editor, disabled it and accessed to the normal wiki syntax article source. So I suppose this has to do with the language preference ... I will stay in English for now !

Re: New wiki

I am trying today to update my wiki articles but when I click on Edit, the article source is messed up : instead of wiki syntax I get HTML generated code, which breaks everything. Are you aware of this problem ?

Re: Accessing u-boot variables from linux

Are you the one that wrote the Wiki "Install_Bubba_on_RAID-1_volumes"? First of all: great job you've done, really helpfull and clear from start to bottom! Re: List of installed packages

Hi

The dpkg selection is stored in file /var/lib/dpkg/status. The simplest is to extract it from the install image and read it. A small awk script should be able to filter the package list ;-). I joined the status file to this post.

Regards,

Re: Having trouble connecting to on-board serial port

Hello,

The PL2303 is a converter between USB and standard RS232 serial port. It is not compatible with the TTL 3.3V console port on the B3. You need to use another adapter, such as the FTDI TTL-232RG-VREG3V3-WE, available in sereral online shops.

Re: Decent iptables script

I think a simpler way is to use iptables-restore in /etc/network/interfaces with the up keyword under eth0 or eth1. Besides that's the method debian guys recommend.

Howto install bubba on RAID-1 array (system and data)

Hello everyone, I writed a first version of my experience in installing a bubba 2 software on RAID-1 arrays. The page is on the wiki at Install_Bubba_2_on_RAID-1_volumes . Feel free to check it out and correct/improve things ! Although it is possible to do the install without a serial console access...
