Re: Raid problem (B3 and S1)

Odd, does that mean there is no mount line in /etc/fstab for /home? How did you log onto the b3 without /home being available? Are you booting from a rescue usb? Can you post the content of /etc/fstab? And maybe also those of 'lvdisplay'' as well? Sorry this takes so long, debugging through a forum ...

Re: My Bubba - Your Bubba

The thing with network transfers is hat you actually need some level of cpu and bus speed to get all that data onto and from the nic. The mail server wont need the improvement of the b3, but the streaming processes will enjoy the better cpu, memory and bus speed.

Re: My Bubba - Your Bubba

It really depends on what you want to do with it, which you did not specify. I for example still have a B1 (yes, B1) in active duty as a DNS server. For this purpose it works outstandingly well, but you cannot use it to stream HD video. So although I can imagine you like everyone here to write essay...

Re: Raid problem (B3 and S1)

So the disk is ok, but the partition is deleted. Are you able to log into the ssh shell? If so, can you show the output of these commands?

Code: Select all

mount
Cat /proc/mdstat
mount -a

Re: Raid problem (B3 and S1)

Its really strange that the master disk got corrupted, especially because the mirroring is done on a partition base, not on a disk base. Can you confirm the whole disk is buggered?

Re: No access with username.myownb3.com

It seems the problem is in your AirPort Extreme Router, not the B3. On the B3 there's a few ports open, depending on your settings (which you did not provide). Port 80 is the best bet, as it is the HTTP port for the web gui. For questions on how to set up your AirPort Extreme Router, please ask in a...

Re: No access with username.myownb3.com

please be so kind to define "accessible", as the information you gave up till now is cryptic and insufficient to diagnose. For example "I use the FTP port 21 for another NAS" makes no sense at all if you do not also explain the network setup or even the machine on which port 21 is located.

Re: Issue with mysql when installing gerrit

well, on the B3 mysql is shipped without a root password, so your "mysql" command should give you access. The fact that it does not means you changed the root password into something only you know. If you forgot the root password, you can reset it by runinng mysql without grant tables http://www.how...

Re: Adding an alternate DNS server

Is that really true? I know in Bind they are in a separate config file (which would rule out hardcoding) and I wonder if DNSmasq would have these since it's not its objective to be a true DNS server. Semantics. By hardcoded i mean supplied with the installer package in a config file. They are not h...

Yes, the root servers are always hardcoded in any dns server.

Re: Failed B3 (another)

Reading back my own posts i seem to be jumping from one theory to another without substantial evidence for any of them. It's like a geek version of a really bad episode of House.
