I did not autoremove yet, becaus I am afraid it will uninstall all the Excito specific additions. Or can I safely cleanup?

The root cause seems to be quite simple: the module 'usbhid.ko' is missing in the kernel(-sources), see here: http://b3.update.excito.org/dists/stable/Contents-armel.
