Not entirely sure what you are asking here, but if I'm reading this right:
Look for the disk name in the dropdown, rather than a device name like Desktop:2 and backup to that.

Re: Problem downloading mail with fetchmail
Thats very odd. OK, lets establish some basics here. Have your fetchmailrc's ever worked? Have you used these settings on another system somewhere and got data? Is pop3 supported (gmail for example needs it turned on expicitly) Do you need to enable SSL support for your ISP? Does your ISP use a diff...

Re: Problem downloading mail with fetchmail
try:
poll [mailserver] proto pop3 user '[username]' pass '[password]' is '[me]' here
e.g. poll pop.gmail.com proto pop3 user 'anyone@gmail.com' pass 'anypassword' is 'somebody' here
I think its picking up your domain twice as you appear to be listing details twice

Re: Portforwarding with AVM Fritz!Box
I would suspect it will be the same as any router. easyfind works over port 80, so as long as you aren't blocking that, it works fine. Otherwise, if you want specific services open, just forward them to the appropriate IP for the Bubba2. On most routers, this is relatively easy to accomplish. I rece...

Re: [Bug Report]Backup/Restore Web Interface
Yep, I agree. Rsync isn't a solution for everyone or everything. I'm lucky, I control the remote server as well as this end, so can control both ends of the process. Don't want to get into a heated discussion about backing up over FTP or SFTP but I agree, we do need a working solution. Having duplic...

Re: [Bug Report]Backup/Restore Web Interface
Doing incrementals via rsync is fairly easy to implement, I do it via crontab and maintain 1 full plus 2 incrementals at any one time.
http://www.mikerubel.org/computers/rsync_snapshots/ is a fairly comprehensive example of how to do this, or http://www.samba.org/rsync/examples.html.

Re: [Bug Report]Backup/Restore Web Interface
Keep going. I'm following your work as well. I stopped using Duplicity as my backup engine, because it was just too slow and full of bugs and instead switched to an rsync based backup strategy for now. Nowhere near ideal, but at least I can incrementally back-up some 450GB of data fairly quickly. I ...

Java is not Excito's remit. Thats down to the organisations that control it. Sun Microsystems doesn't support PPC on their JVM, but you can download the IBM JVM for PPC from the web.

Re: MySQL server password
Hi, Welcome to the world of Linux. Generally, if you make any changes to Webservers like Apache, it is best to restart it anyway, so that it picks up your changed config. In almost all instances, webservers only read config changes at startup. MySQL in the real world would most definitely have a pas...

Re: Parental control
Hi, It doesn't come as standard, but their are ways to do it using quota's etc, but as you have limited Linux experience, might I suggest something like http://www.censornet.com/ Very good thread discussing this on http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-desktop-74/parental-control-in-linux-52...

Re: Annoying small problem
Hi Caper, Not sure how much you know. Apologies if its too basic for you. I'll also do this long hand, so you see all the steps. Their are some ways of doing it quickly, but that won't help you understand the commands. 1. Log into putty to your Bubba using PuTTy as yourself (or what ever user name y...

An example from the logrotate man page. "/var/log/httpd/access.log" /var/log/httpd/error.log { rotate 5 mail www@my.org size=100k sharedscripts postrotate /sbin/killall -HUP httpd endscript } There is a size parameter that you can use to determine how big or how often you want to run. Ther...

The other tactic you could try is just to set up the phpmyadmin directory with .htaccess following the Howto on this forum
