Re: Easyfind end of service

I believe I can get everything from GitHub - except so it seems the B2 manual (version 2.0.0.1 - oldest commit on GitHub is 2.1.0)

Oh and I'm missing a dependency package: libeutils is also not on GitHub

Re: Easyfind end of service

Hmmm, I actually still reference b3.update.excito.org for a couple of packages:
- bubba-manual
- filetransferdaemon
- bubba-buttond

Re: Bubbagen live-USB for B3 version 1.16 (Gentoo Linux 6.1.12 Stable)

Hi, thanks for reporting. Unsure at this point what might have caused this. Top of my head the boot.ini entries are set by the installer which is the same as in the previous version, since version 1.13 in fact. Edit: found the culprit. For those interested in the details, the installer was checking ...

Bubbagen live-USB for B3 version 1.16 (Gentoo Linux 6.1.12 Stable)

Hi, I've just released version 1.16 of the Bubbagen live-USB image for B3 on GitHub. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gordonb3/cache/master/Bubba/bubbagen-screenshots.jpg Significant change with this version is the drop of Easyfind, both in the GUI and as a service and DHCP activated module. Rodeus...

Re: Debian bullseye (11) image 1.0 released for B3

I actually built my own because Sakaki's didn't work for me at first ;) The big advantage of the interstitial kernel is that you can manipulate the command line options to the kernel, meaning I only need to create one single kernel and be able to use that for all combinations of init (openrc, system...

Re: Debian bullseye (11) image 1.0 released for B3

Thanks for your message. It's a great incentive for me to know people continue using this hardware and the distribution I maintain ! Also I started working on the new debian version (12), I have some issues with the 6.1 kernel which refuses to boot. Nevertheless I still hope I'll be able to make it...

Re: Easyfind end of service

Thruth it's off for more than 1 month now and no one complained. I saw stasheck's offer but I won't spend time migrating a service no one wishes to use any more. So I think the service will be terminated. Yeah, during the last (noticed by me) back payment on the myownb3 domain I instated a daily di...

Re: Easyfind end of service

Noone contacted me, though the offer is still up. I can try to get another IP address, once I know how the service is supposed to run. DNS is fairly straight forward if you're only serving a single domain. Internet protocol is that you have at least two IPs for redundancy though I doubt that many d...

Re: Easyfind end of service

Ping! What is the status on this? Are you taking on the offer by @stashek (which is of course a single IP and you should have a secondary backup IP) or will the service be terminated? Asking because I like to know whether I should start investigation on removing this feature from the Bubba interface.

Re: How to build a kernel for Debian on Excito B3

Oh, to create a kernel: install the kernel source package copy `.config` from your current running kernel (or that from that GitHub page) into the main source directory (where Makefile is) run `make menuconfig` (also do this if you do not intend to make changes to the config) if you do want to add f...

Re: How to build a kernel for Debian on Excito B3

I have not built a uImage kernel for quite some time now. Too much of a hassle. The last one I built I configured with an initrd to serve as a secondary 'BIOS' that enables me to boot a regular zImage. This idea originally came from Sakaki and I refined it to be more transparent towards the final ru...

Re: Easyfind end of service

I guess that was coming for quite some time. I have a feeling though that many users only come to this forum whenever they encounter some issue, e.g. there were some posts when myownb3.com was seized last September. Might be an idea to bring it down for a week or so to prompt these users to come vis...

Re: Bubba B1 failure mode

Frederik might be on track here. The clicking sound could also be from the head park mechanism. Either way my guess would be that it supplies insufficient power to the hard disk which is probably not due to the B1 itself but rather its PSU.

Re: myownb3.com problems

It's becoming harder to support older encryption methods with every upgrade of openssl and they have been quite active the last months. I have in fact had some local breakages as well on account of a self-signed certificate that I use for my email server and apparently is now considered unsafe becau...
