Hi! If anyone is interested, i compiled Ruby 1.8.6 on bubba today. It looks like it's not avaiable on debian repositories. Anyway, it compiles without problems, and also faster than i thought (it still takes quite long of course :P). To compile, just follow the README. It works out of the box, here ...

Hi! A little update: i managed to compile version 2.8.5. They corrected the ARM hang bug (so the patch above is not necessary anymore). But they introduced support for SUI (secure user identification, iirc) that doesn't compile on bubba. To compile, you have to pass --disable-donkeysui parameter to ...

did you enabled official debian repositories ?
if not, you should uncomment the first 3 lines of file /etc/apt/sources.list by removing the initial "#"
after it run (as root):

Maybe you don't even need the button press. IIRC it is possible to set things up so that usb media is automatically recognized and a script to copy is started.
