rsync: page allocation failure.
From a Windows 7 PC I am using rsync over ssh to backup files to B3. I've been doing this for some time and it works pretty well. Alongside this I use Paragon to backup the PC's hard drive to an external drive. Recently I added transfer of these very large backup archive files to B3. Each is 4G in s...

Re: B3 grinding noises - disk failing? URGENT!
UPDATE... Ok, the grinding has stopped and the web interface is working again. Raid status is "normal", but the syslog is full of disk errors (see below). Is it normal for RAID to say all is well when clearly there was a problem? What does this mean for my drives? Should I run some diagnos...

Thanks Daniel, but it is my backupDanielM wrote:I'd start taking backup of everything important...
(Actually I wouldn't, I already got backups of it, but I'd doublecheck for sure.)

B3 grinding noises - disk failing? URGENT!
My B3 is normally silent but a few minutes ago I noticed a grinding noise that sounds like the disk. Its a bit like the sound of something loose rattling about most of the time (though obviously its not quite that!), though occaisionally I'm hearing the "zip zip" of a longer seek operation...

Re: B2 LAN/WAN Interface Broken
I timed the install and it took 21 minutes (as predicted for 2T disk according to the manual), so I'm pretty sure it completed properly. Might try the serial port route.
EDIT:
Oh, this assumes I'll be able to enable the WiFi using the console!
Thanks,
Mark

B2 LAN/WAN Interface Broken
Some months ago I upgraded my B2 WiFi to a B3 WiFi and at the time thought I had managed to break the LAN on the B2, possibly by connecting them with the wrong kind of network cable. I'd like to be able to use the B2 as a Server, connecting to my B3 via WiFi (with B2 tweaked to act as a client), so....

Ubi - thanks. If you know any of the threads (particularly the WiFi client solution) please post links. I did search for stuff on this but it is hard to find. Can I connect B2 to B3 via WiFi
I have a Bubba|2 WiFi and a B3 WiFi and would like to network them, but in different rooms.
Is it possible to do this with WiFi?
Thanks,
Mark

Re: ownCloud and FreedomBox
I just heard about FreedomBox (here's the WikiPedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreedomBox). A FreedomBox is: a personal server running a free software operating system, with free applications designed to create and preserve personal privacy. They say it is free software designed to run on p...

Re: Release notes for Excito B3 software version 2.3.1
I upgraded successfully without the need to reboot and reported this outcome here 29th October. Since then two whole days have passed with nothing abnormal. Today though, one of the daily cron jobs failed as follows: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate: error: error running non-shared postrotate script for /v...

Re: Release notes for Excito B3 software version 2.3.1
My update from the UI got past the 100% after a while, and then stuck with a second bar which is stuck at 0%. At some point it briefly showed a message about "retrying query" or something, but progress remains stuck at 0%. So I tried refresh page and soon after got the pre-update screen. ...

Re: Release notes for Excito B3 software version 2.3.1
* If the update doesn't go all the way but hangs just before it should be finished (99 or 100%) this is normal. This is in the transition to the new updater logic. Just wait a few minutes and then reload the page. My update from the UI got past the 100% after a while, and then stuck with a second b...

UPnP support for Microsoft Remote Assistance
Playing with Microsoft Remote Assistance (on Windows 7) I was directed to a test page which checked routers support. My B3 passed everything except UPnP. Here's the test page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx I understand B3 has some UPnP support for media playing but do...

Re: ICSI Netalyzr issue
You give up easily as I'm sure we could both improve on the last pseudocode script. But alas I give up easily too, as I can't answer your questions.
I am letting Excito know that Netalyzr is complaining about something that I think is about B3.
