Re: RAID is not setting itself up...

Maybe the raid-maker script doesnot like it that you have data on that second disk. If so, you can try removing all partitions from that disk. In windows , right click on my computer, select 'manage' and then disk management. On linux, go to the ssh shell, run "fdisk /dev/sdb" , press &quo...

Re: Set up mailserver

Consideribg the simplicity and robustness of the hack, i think future releases of bubbaOS should have smtp-auth enabled by default (except minimal password strengths then do apply )

Re: Set up mailserver

The proposed before-queue filtering (i.e. Proxy filtering) is indeed the best way to handle spam, simply because you can reject the mail while still having a connection the actual sender. However, running spamassassin or amavisd in a before-queue setup is officially not recomended unless ou have a v...

Re: Old default admin password remains operational after cha

In the shell the command to use is smbpasswd http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/manpages-3/smbpasswd.8.html However, your argument about exposing the b3 to the internet is a lottle moot, as the network sharing part of the b3 (i.e. The samba part) is not exposed to the internet unless you specically...

Thanks for the recipe. The symtoms you describe are actually known behaviour for nfs under any connection type, so the recipe may be relevant to many more people.

Re: Set up mailserver

I probably understand incorrectly, but it seems you try to hide an open smtp by changing the port. If so thats security through obscurity. Why not turn on smtp auth that is available ith he machine?

Re: Set up mailserver

Gordon, can you please explain me what the benefit of that firewall trick is compared to having postfix just listen on port nnn instead? This is especially true if you're in the Netherlands, because as you know we like to implement EU ruling even before it has been offered to parliament Please stop ...

Re: Set up mailserver

You can still be serious as well as a hobbyist! An SMTP server is a complex and potential dangerous thing, and if not taken seriously, can give you trouble. But the same can be said for a car, and many people use one every day. I have of course no knowledge of your situation or availability of ISPs....

Re: Set up mailserver

Binkem: just turn on the smtp-submission service in master.cf. This uses port 587 which is rarely blocked. Then set relayhost to your isps mx server and you are good to go

Re: Set up mailserver

Me neither, and I am in mainland europe. The story of registrars not allowing you to set mx records sounds really really strange, and is a signal you should run away asap. As or blocking of port 25, this does occur if you have a cheap and clueless isp. Generally isps that give you a fixed ip address...

I just started the tread because i had no idea why anyone would find easyfind useful. Apparently quite a few people do like it, so its a good thing it remains in the standard install. Thanks everyone for participting!
