Re: B3: How to set a firewall rule for port 445
The B3 allows every address on the LAN to access every address and every port on the internet by replacing the original sender address (which is invalid as far as the internet is concerned) with it's own internet address. This includes port 445 and the other side will never see any difference betwee...

Re: Question about PHP
Strangely I can't remember ever having used the simpler ereg() functions because I found them too confusing (I use other stuff with Perl-style regexes as well). Like the link that Ubi provided states, it's fairly simple to rewrite ereg() functions to preg() functions. In fact that simple that you co...

Re: Ipredator VPN PPP routing problem
AFAIK this should be the correct setting. I should have probably been a bit more clear about the try with a workstation suggestion. The objective is that you set up the PPTP connection on the B3 and with the workstation connected to the B3 LAN interface verify if internet access does work from that ...

If you can get console access using the rescue system, and you can mount the storage volume, go to /home/admin and find the file .bubbacfg AllowRemote=no default_lang=en hotfix=yes language= network_profile=router run_wizard=no show_sideboard=1 Change the value in the first line to "yes" a...

Re: Ipredator VPN PPP routing problem
If there's no route set to use eth0, then traffic should be handed to ppp0. To verify, you might try to trace what's happening using tcpdump (`apt-get install tcpdump`).

Re: Is it safe to change the root password?
My bad - wrong interface and trying to be fancy myself. The command 'su' without arguments will make you user 0, which is root by any name.

Re: Is it safe to change the root password?
That all sounds hopelessly complex and if you were to ask me, hardly adds any security and may even degrade security. First off you should never allow access to port 22 (or whatever obscure port that does the same) from untrusted addresses. This implies that anyone trying to gain access to your serv...

Re: Ipredator VPN PPP routing problem
Hmmm... Did you also try from a different machine in your LAN? The trouble with VPN's can be that your sending a bad return address when attempting connect from the machine that's hosting either side of the tunnel. The trouble in this case is that while you can in fact connect to the intended target...

Re: Can't access internal webserver from within LAN
Hmm... If I disable Wifi it works, but then I'm out of Wifi  ... Is it possible to split br0 into wlan0 and eth1? Of course you can - it's bridging that's out of the ordinary. It will probably cause problems with DNSmasq (and its integrated DHCP) though and you may have to switch to something...

Re: Ipredator VPN PPP routing problem
It should be as simple as setting defaultroute in your PPP options. Verify by typing ~# ip route 172.18.10.0/24 dev br0 proto kernel scope link src 172.18.10.254 192.168.2.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.2.3 default via 192.168.2.254 dev eth0 * mine looks a bit weird because I'm be...

Re: Can't see b3 @ Sony TV
The root password is usually shielded from logging in directly through SSH. You need to connect as a regular user first and then become root by issuing the 'su' command, at which point you'll be asked to supply the root password.

Re: B3 and TOR trouble
Can this not just be that port 9001 is blocked by a firewall between internet and your B3? I'd say yes. ORPort is about being a TOR server, so that won't work if the firewall is up. According to the supplied log client functionality is working, so most likely the problem with the webbrowser is not ...

Re: Can't access internal webserver from within LAN
I agree - that is strange. However a bridge does imply there is some type of routing involved (I'm not totally familiar with the fundamentals on this) *and* shurely you must have added a DNAT rule to the firewall to transfer incoming traffic to the webserver. What may be happening here is that your ...

Re: Can't access internal webserver from within LAN
How do you connect to that webserver? Normally if you're on the same wired network you'd make a direct connection to it and thus never pass any other machine like the B3. An exception would be that you're using the external DNS name and need the B3 to DNAT that address to the internal webserver, *or...
