Upgrade all the way from squeeze :D
Hi guys, I think it's quite undoable, but a friend of mine asked me to upgrade his B3 - which was fine, until I discovered it's still running Squeeze (with original B3 'elvin' distro) O_o Is there any sane way to go up to Buster? I have no idea what's installed and configured on this system; I can f...

Re: How many B3's out there ?
I have: - B3 at my parents, used as an AP/gateway/remote backup target - B3 at friend's company, used as backup target - B3 at another friend, running Transmission - B3 at home, being remote backup target I retired my own B3 because it could not keep up with my new uplink (250/250), replaced with Ce...

Leaking RTC batteries
I thought I should share: I have a bunch of B3s, and I discovered that in all of them the RTC battery leaked - which may lead to damage to PCB.
You need to open B3, remove the (very small) screw holding PCB, replace the LR44 battery (clean up if it already leaked) and you'll be good to go again.

Re: B3 replacement
I most definitely didn't want to offend anyone - I have a fleet of B3s under my control and they are still fine :-) However, as said above - the hardware is old and quite slow by now. It cannot use full power of my broadband, for example :-) That's why I'm looking for something to replace my gateway...

Re: B3 replacement
Finally found (almost) perfect replacement: http://espressobin.net/
- cheap
- SATA
- 3 GE interfaces
- dual-core A53
- runs Arch
- fanless
Only thing it's lacking is decent case But for 50$, I can live with that

Any B3's for sale in Europe?
Hi, is there anyone who wants to part with his (her) B3?
For US-based guys, here's a pretty good deal: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Excito-B3-Mini ... Sw-4pZz9DF
Unfortunately, while unit price is 10$, shipping to Poland is over 30$ :/

Re: B3 replacement
All interesting ideas, neither hits:
- fanless operation
- 3.5" HDD mount
- native SATA interface
- dual Ethernet
I just went through Aliexpress listings, and there are interesting devices - even x86 - but max they take is 2.5" HDD.
B3 becomes dated, but it's still one of a kind

The fuse in my power brick has blown. Does anyone know what type/rating the replacement should be?

Yes, I have access to the DHCP server to check that But good point.
I'll try disabling dhcpcd.

Re: Arch B3 gets 2 IPs via DHCP on the interface?
Sakaki to the rescue :) # cat /etc/systemd/network/eth0.network [Match] Name=eth0 [Network] DHCP=ipv4 [DHCP] UseDNS=True I understand that systemd-networkd will also get address from DHCP, not using dhcpcd? To disable, just "systemctl disable dhcpcd" and reboot? It won't cause netctl to di...

Re: I ordered a B3, but order status remains 'unfulfilled'
I can say for myself, but the reason is that nothing else is similarly compact, has combination of fast SATA (RPi doesn't have it), 2 ethernet ports (because firewall), USB ports (because extensibility) and metal enclosure (because fanless operation). Solid looks are a plus (as compared to GnuBee, f...

Arch B3 gets 2 IPs via DHCP on the interface?
Hi, I feel kind of stupid by posting a question I can probably figure out on my own, but here it's related to B3's networking - which is the only way to communicate with B3. The device is installed remotely, so if I mess up, it will stay down (well, up, but incommunicado) until I can get there. So, ...
