Hi Johannes and others of Excito,
I know that people have tried to set up quota with various succes. But it would be nice if the bubba (B3) will get official quota support through the webinterface.
That would be a nice addition.
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Question on usage of b3 backup using Amazon S3
Hi Johannes,
I just want to bump this subject. Being able to use online storage can be very usefull, especially in combination with the backup service. By the way, just read that Google is going to offer online storage next week as well.
What is Excito's view on this?
Regards,
Albert

Re: Need help with reinstall
As it turns out it was easier than expected. When you reinstall the B3 it creates a new partition for /home on the internal disk. Recovering your data from the mirror disk turned out to be simple, just click in the disk part of the webinterface (Disk/RAID) on Recover RAID array. It then asks where t...

Re: Need help with reinstall
I would say so too, what's the use of having a RAID1 if you can't use it in case of disaster. Luckily the setup was stock, with a few tiny tweaks, but nothing particular and the mirror was created as stock. So it boils down to: If I had a catastrophic disaster with the B3, and need to replace or rei...

Re: Need help with reinstall
Hi thanks, got it all set and done. My problem, my DHCP server gave out the IP nr to the LAN port (MAC address configured), but of course when booting in rescue mode you use the WAN port. Anyway, I could't find a problem in the logs, so I did a reinitialize without changing the partition table and n...

Need help with reinstall
I seem to have buggered up my B3. In order to get squeezebox center working I deleted it, and reinstalled it. Unfortunately, now my B3 is unreachable, so I fear I have to reinstall. I have a couple of questions: - When booting from the USB boot stick the led turns green, but what IP number is given ...

Re: backup timeline
Hi Johannes, it seems that it works. The old backups were actually cleaned up. However, that excludes the files in /home/admin/.backup/mail/fileinfo, in that directory it still shows all the older backups info files. These are also the backups shown in the web interface list, which is the reason I s...

Re: backup timeline
Hi Johannes,
I changed the settings on Saturday, four days ago. I assumed that the cleanup was done immediately.
I'll give it another week then.

backup timeline
Hi Excito, I am using the backup function to backup the email, that works fine and I can restore too. However, when setting up I originally had a timeline of 1 year set. Now I changed that back to one week, but it seems the old timelines are not cleaned up. Would be handy to have a way through the w...

Re: Release notes for Excito B3 software version 2.3.1
Well, I seem to have fixed it myself (the squeezecenter startup problem, that is). I stoppend squeezecenter with the webinterface (services). Then I removed squeezecenter, including the mysql database that belongs to squeezecenter: apt-get remove --purge squeezecenter (check that you remove the mysq...

Re: Release notes for Excito B3 software version 2.3.1
hi Johannes, I had to do the update manually, and it seemed to have updated nicely. I noticed that the squeezecenter client (SoftSqueeze) wasn't able to connect so I checked the logs /var/log/squeezecenter/server.log and found lots of entries, like this: [11-10-26 19:52:21.1899] Carp::Clan::__ANON__...

backup (duplicity) question regarding full/incremental
Hi Johannes,
is there a way to set up the backup, using the webinterface, were I have a full backup once a week, then an incremental for the rest of the week. And leave those backups for the rest of the year (or a month, a week, whatever).
How do I do this?
Thanks,
Albert

Re: Question on usage of b3 backup using Amazon S3
Hi Johannes, living in Europe I need the following commandline options as well: --s3-european-buckets --s3-use-new-style and one needs to choose another protocol than the ones available now (scp, ftp, ssh): s3://host/bucket_name[/prefix] s3+http://bucket_name[/prefix] So I don't know how to test thi...

Question on usage of b3 backup using Amazon S3
I was wondering, has anyone used the backup facility of b3 using the S3 online storage of Amazon. According to the man page of duplicity (the backup software used) it is possible. As the first 5 GB are free, and duplicity has also the possibility of encryption this looks a reasonable way to back up ...

Re: Do the e-SATA ports support Port Multiplier?
I looked a bit further into it ("just Googled") and found that a regression had been introduced into the 2.6.35 kernel regarding the Marvel Sata stuff connecting to a port multiplier. So your experience makes sense. So the bottom line is just to upgrade your kernel to 2.6.38 before using a...
