By connecting my PC direct to the modem I saw that the modem allows 1500. I then put my bubba between and did (logged in via su as root) /sbin/ifconfig eth0 mtu 1500 as was first suggested and now I can connect correctly :D :D everything works :D :D :D I am now sending this message via the bubba (I'...

I think you mean uPnP.
Yes for uPnP mediatomb has to be running.
See the section about mediatomb in the manual.
The music has to be placed in /home/storage/music
The connection, which you can view with your browser is
http://bubba:49152
or if this doesn't work

I've just read up a bit about MTU, mainly here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximum_transmission_unit My experiences do seem to fit with this idea, since small packets do get through OK, but large ones don't: the first few hundred bytes do arrive and then the connection freezes. I suspect what is h...

It works when behind a router.
I've found that my bubba does now work when it is behind a router, but not when it is directly connected to my internet cable modem. In my initial tests it didn't work in that configuration as reported in the other thread, but suddenly it started working and I don't know that I changed anything that...

this is the same as my problem - I've not found any answer
See: http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?t=1226&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= A friend also suffers from this, so it seems something that Excito need to address with some priority. My friend and I both connect to the internet via a cable modem (different ones). Two ot...

recovery
The USB install image that can be downloaded from http://www.excito.com/bubba/download.html contains a recovery system. Follow the instructions in the manual (near the end of the manual) to place this image onto a USB stick and then browse to the stick. You will find a file called bubba.cfg with the...

doesn't your media player need a media server?
My (very) limited experience is that media players need to talk to a media server. Bubba has 2: - firefly for DAAP - mediatomb for UPnP These are switched on in the services section of the admin interface, and then can be accesses to manage then through (e.g.) http://bubba:3689 for firefly To access...
