Re: Minimal wheezy install images for b3

Hi, it is me again. Since the release of kernel 3.15 (with a workaround for the buggy uboot) draws near, I was wondering whether you have any plans on building a new image? Or can you give me the instructions to do so myself? When I search for tutorials and howtos on the subject of building kernels ...

Re: uboot update needed.

In light of the recent Heartbleed-Bug I feel a little uncomfortable with my B3 running Mouette's 3.0.xyz Custom Wheezy Kernel which is unable to update OpenSSL to a safe version. So I would like to come back to the idea of getting the B3 to work with newer Kernels. I will just lay out my thoughts an...

Yes, it is in linux-next now, and should be part of v3.15.
So that means the B3 is probably able to boot Kernel 3.15+ without updating the uboot-image?

Re: Rescue-Key Installer - Advanced Format drives + alignmen

..well, let me explain a bit here: How long does it usually take for the B3 to boot into normal operation mode (purple -> blue LED)? I estimate about 2 minutes until the device is ready, which I think is longer than before. It might also be, that this is the normal bootup time and I just did not rea...

Re: Rescue-Key Installer - Advanced Format drives + alignmen

The only thing kind of wrong now is, that the B3 takes a very long time to boot. At first I thought something was wrong with it... Do you happen to have some insight as to why it takes longer to boot after I configured a new lvm-setup? Do I have to set special parameters? I think I mirrored the sett...

Re: Rescue-Key Installer - Advanced Format drives + alignmen

Thx a lot for your help. e2: I will put this in front. The machine boots regularly now. Alignment and GPT-headers are correct. Just do not switch to a ext4-filesystem as root, since apparently the U-Boot cannot handle that. So I will summarize for future readers, who might want to repartition the ro...

Re: Rescue-Key Installer - Advanced Format drives + alignmen

Small update: The gdisk-tool (fdisk for GPT) is able to recognize my drive without crashing. It also suggests rebuilding the secondary header and verify my disk. Here is what I plan to do: Rebuild secondary GPT-Header Delete the lvm-partition (home), I will do that in-system after boot Make sure the...

Rescue-Key Installer - Advanced Format drives + alignment

I own a B3 which I bought used with a 2TB WD Green harddrive. Early on I switched that drive with a 3TB WD Red, installed the 3TB-Bootloader-Fix and went on using the underlying debian squeeze without the excito-apps. After encountering some limitations because of the old kernel, I switched to a cus...

Re: Minimal wheezy install images for b3

I feel very stupid now, because it works as expected (wifi-image again). But this time I used the "unzip tarball to drive"-method instead of the rescue-key-installer. Something must have broken the last time while installing. Ping works, login as root did too. NMAP tells me that the system...

Re: Minimal wheezy install images for b3

well... Everything seems to be normal as of now. back to topic: SSH login does not work with the wifi-image. I will try to install the no-wifi-image tomorrow and see if that works out for me. Apparently choosing which image to use is not related to whether your B3 came with a wireless-card or not, r...

I do not know why, but someone either deleted or hid my two previous posts without any kind of feedback to me.

Re: Minimal wheezy install images for b3

But even after connecting via wireless, I was not able to lease an IP via DHCP. Read the third reply... You offered a solution that did not match my problem. That file does not exist in the image-archive and therefore probably will not exist after installation (already reinstalled my backup). Also ...

Re: Minimal wheezy install images for b3

Tried to install your wheezy-image (b3-wifi-wheezy-minimal-20130705-1950) yesterday, but failed miserably. The Installation worked and the files were correctly copied to the drive. I was slightly confused for the first time, when the SSID of the pre-configured wireless network was not the promised &...
