I have had similar problems with mediatomb (see http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?t=1020). For some reason, not all artist names or categories are indexed correctly, even though all files are available via firefly. In my case, "The Smashing Pumpkins" appeared nowhere under Artist (ie. ...

Thanks for the speedy response, Ian

Hi Johan,
in reply to your questions:

1. Win XP
2. Colorful Tabs, IE Tab
3. Both
4. No

And the good news: having re-enabled it, to check the Error Console, it now works without any errors, without me having changed anything... very weird!!

I followed all of the steps in your posting, apart from 2. and 3., as I couldn't find either of the folders in question. After reinstalling bubbamon, I immediately received the invalid identity error again... I had this problem a long time ago, and had solved it somehow. However, on upgrading Firefo...

Unfortunately, this error has re-occurred with me as well. I have entered and re-entered my username/password umpteen times, which sometimes causes an error to appear (something about user already existing), but then I get the dreaded invalid account popup. It's so annoying that I have had to uninst...

I think if you want to guarantee a response from excito, you should email them directly (there is also an email link in the "Customer support area"). If you ask the forum, then you will have to wait until someone who knows the answer actually sees the question, which may or may not be some...

The thing is, The Smashing Pumpkins appears in the right place in the full list of artists on the player, so there's apparently nothing wrong with the tag info (or the player's ability to read it). The problem with this list is that it is very slow to load, making it a bit tedious to use...

Hi Eek, thanks for the reply. I took a look at Mediatomb, and "The Smashing Pumpkins" do appear under Audio > Artists . I tried it again on the MusicPal, and noticed something weird. If I browse by Artist and select T... , the only band starting with The is "The The". However, if...

Hi Eek, thanks for the suggestion. Although it's not truly portable (due to a lack of battery power), I went ahead and bought one anyway. So far, it works fine, apart from one peculiarity. Some artist names do not appear in the list of artists (ie. The Smashing Pumpkins), even though their albums (i...

Portable mediaplayer

I was wondering if anyone has come across some sort of portable streaming media player, which can be carried around the home (and into the garden/garage if necessary) and can still play music off the bubba (ie. something like a portable Soundbridge).

Cheers, Ian.

If you think that your computer has the same IP address as the bubba, why not try changing the IP address of your computer before doing anything else, in case that solves the problem.

puTTY on S60

For those of you who own an S60 phone, there is a version of puTTY available for S60 3rd Edition. I have an E90, and puTTY actually works really well (on the internal screen at least). It's obviously not as practical as using a PC, but for geek value it's right up there.... puTTY for S60 can be foun...

My bubba is more or less in its original state, but is used pretty intensively. I have installed bubbamon, enabling the bubba's status to be viewed using both of our soundbridges, as well as via a Firefox plugin (current uptime 83 days and counting!). The bubba is now powered via an APC UPS, but I h...
