ftd documentation

I could not find any documentation on my Bubba2 about ftd. No manpage; no directory /usr/share/doc/ftd. Are there plans to provide such documentation in an upcoming release/upgrade? Certain mods I made on my system removed the web interface. I presume I need to understand something about ftd in orde...

Re: Server Freeze when uploading

Hi All [..]In the process of uploading the first file the process hangs completely and freezes the server. the only way I can re-attempt (and fail) with the process is to switch off the server and restart. The file I've been attempting this with is 6661 KB and is an ogg file. Any ideas? TIA This on...

Re: Juat a thought ...

I considered that as well, although moving around 160 GB for just a simple Bubba-installation is sort of a pain in the ass, especially if we consider getting frequent updates... :--) Aha. See what you mean; but it is NOT necessary to clean your disk (or stick) before installing a recover or reinsta...

Cable question

1. Is the 50 cm cable which is included in the box when you get the Bubba2 a crossover cable? (I read somewhere that this is the case). 2. If so, why? 3. Does it matter? I ask this because it seems the cable can be replaced by any old kind of network cable and it still works. Perhaps modern NIC's s...

Re: My bubbatwo

By my opinion bubbatwo blinks out because of it's low enery usage and to be able to configurate bubbatwo the way you want it. For the non-Dutch among the readers: "blinks out" = "blinkt uit" = "excels". At first I was afraid that this was about the "blinking"...

Re: Copying problem may have been solved

One more data point: I restarted the avahi-daemon and ran the same 50 GB copying task again. It crashed after copying 8.9 GB.

More and more the finger seems to point at avahi-daemon... Of course it may still be a coincidence. More tests are needed.

Copying problem may have been solved

OK we have a horrible problem on Bubba2, making it almost unusable: crashes of the whole system when large amounts of data are copied to it or from it, through USB or ethernet. Not all of these cases have been verified BTW. BUT ... In my case the problem seems to have gone away after I killed & ...

I can recommend Shorewall (http://www.shorewall.net/) which is a bit easier to configure. It is still all text files so it is an advanced tool. Seems to be available in the standard repo.[..] Shorewall is OK, but the latest versions load an absolutely ridiculous amount of modules. This may provide ...

avahi-daemon

I'd love to know what the avahi-daemon does. The man page is most unclear. What would I miss if I just removed it?

by the way,

there are several very nice bright miniature LEDs on the systemboard.

Aren't you wondering about them? ;-)
Would this help diagnosing the "crash on large copy" problem? So far I thought of the bubba2 as a "black box" (which it is).

Mirror pic

To the right: ADSL modem
To the left: Bubba 2
At the back, left: mirror to see Bubba's LED. It would be better to have the light at the "back" of the Bubba, in my opinion.

No interruptions No hickups Bubba even remained quite responsive during the transfer in both webinterface and SSH. Sofar, I could not crash my bubba. I am jealous. What does "top" say about the system load during the copy, BTW? # hdparm -t /dev/sda1 /dev/sda1: Timing buffered disk reads: ...
