Hello gayleard, 1) I'm sure you can compile and get Fedora to run on the Bubba hardware if you want to, but it kind of takes the whole point of the Bubba product away. What you pay for is a system that comes preinstalled, preconfigured and ready to use out of the box. It contains standard Debian sof...

Oh,

I never looked as I thought it was proprietary to rarlab. I have even used that as an argument trying to convince people to stop using it...
Shame on me then...

Edit: I have never tried unpacking rar files on the bubba, as it would be very slow. I have only used it to list files in rar files. Hi Cros, I downloaded unrar from Rarlab: wget http://www.rarlab.com/rar/unrar-arm.tar.bz2 You will need bunzip2 to unpack it: apt-get install bzip2 bunzip2 unrar-arm.t...

Sorry, I should have mentioned forwarding SMTP as well s IMAP.

I don't do that my self due to limitations in my ISP.
I have to use an external SMTP server, so no tunneling needed for me when sending emails...

Wake on LAN

Edit: I had to rewrite this since the last one was a mess. The goal is to power up any PC on my home network from work. The PC that is to be powered up remotely has to have Wake On LAN capability, and WOL has to be enabled in BIOS. All my PCs claim to have this ability, but it doesn’t actually wor...

Hello Boy, Most corporate networks and ISPs allow outgoing SSH on port 22. If you are in a place where you cannot get access to your server on port 143, try starting a ssh session to your server, and then tunnel the IMAP protocol through it: Putty is a free and excellent windows ssh client. Download...

Hello Helder, I forgot to follow up on this. I did it, it wasn't hard, and it was well worth it. The reason I mention it now after all this time is that I have a new computer with Windows Vista, and I suddenly realize how awkward it is to not have central authentication... I have become used to just...

Hi guys,

Did any of you configure webmin to run under apache rather than it's own perl web server? If so, was there a noticeable performance improvement?
Any caveats?

Hi hasbeansteve, Make sure you are using the correct IP when you try to access your bubba from outside. If the ports are correctly forwarded to bubba's IP on your internal network (most likely 192.168.x.x), you should be able to reach it from outside by using the external IP of your router. This is ...

Hi mountaindude, I couldn't get it working at first because my ISP blocked port 25 (incoming and outgoing). Had to buy a service called MailHop from DynDNS.com to re-rout all mails to my domain to another port on my bubba to get it working, and I still have to use my ISPs SMTP server for outgoing ma...

EDIT: Please ignore. I just saw in your first post that you can access the device via \\bubba... Hi JohanW, How is your network configured? Is bubba under the same local network hub/switch as the renderer? I had a similar problem when my ISP decided to block NetBIOS packages without notifying me... ...
