You can use Qemu to emulate ARM cpu on x86 machine, but it is slow (much slower than VM).

Is the hd mounted with this rescue firmware?
No, so it would be no problem to backup your hard drive

I use bubba as internet radio player (shoutcast) with success. The problem is, when decoding mp3s float point operations are made by math coprocessor. But bubba has only float point emulation which is slow. The solution is to use integer based decoder, such as Madplay http://www.underbit.com/product...

Your on-board FLASH (NVRAM) will be re-flashed with a new bootloader supporting 128 MBytes, and with a more modern rescue FS. I would like to know, how to re-flash current (64Mb) to this new bootloader. As far as I know though, noone has dug that deep into Bubba (yet). I was searching for more info...

Bubba as router

Hi!

I managed to compile iptables and NAT modules. NSLU2 guys reports that many devices work with NSLU2, so they should run with bubba too. I have tried DLINK DSB-650TX with pegasus driver as second network card and IT WORKS!

I got ~600 KB/s routing speed (5Mb/s?)

Try this precompiled crosstool http://download.excito.net/kernel/arm-g ... 2-1.tar.gz

I managed to compile crosstool (gcc 4.0.2 glibc 2.3.2) on gentoo and to compile kernel and working modules.

I'm just curious, how to store compiled kernel to nvram on bubba. Is it enough to dd if=/my-kernel.gz of=/dev/mtd1 (or /dev/mtdblock1??) Upgrading kernel can screw up bubba, so how to restore original kernel? I've found, that it is possible to boot arm board using serial port or usb, when nvram if c...

Bjorn, according to Jarno, when run on an Athlon 64 3800+, it can perform 20 percent faster than the ARM-based LinkSys NSLU2 (266MHz??) .. so it's worth trying

Have you tried any benchmarks on Bubba?

Bubba on Qemu

Hi! It is possible to run Bubba on Qemu! It seems to work fine. I used Debian Etch Installer to unpack bubba.img and http://people.debian.org/~aurel32/arm-versatile/vmlinuz-2.6.18-2-versatile kernel. See also http://www.aurel32.net/info/debian_arm_qemu.php for more information http://3miasto.net/~os...
