Re: installing rtorrent from sources
[quote="nb000"] Installing rTorrent from the source. This has 2 big advantages and one disandvantage: + you can install the latest version + you can manage it from anywhere using nTorrent or n2hell or ... - you can compile it only on etch :-( [quote] Why would you want to install it from s...

I don't use 'Logwatch' so I don't know what it reports, but unless you have given out your root password then I think it's unlikely you have been hacked. Unless you have altered apache then I cannot see /etc/passwd (or it's shadow) being accesible. If they have your root password why would they need...

I did a course on computer security and vunerabilities a while back and threw the whole range of hacker attack tools at Bubba to see what I could find. In fact Bubba was very secure and much more secure then some well known websites out there. I do see alot of attempts by hacking bots to request sys...

I've not used MySQL or this application, but that SQL statement looks rather heavy, depending on the amount of data it is parsing then having DISTINCT together with a JOIN and an ORDER BY in the same SQL query may take a while to execute. Perhaps there is some timeout setting for queries on your MyS...

Very slow moving files around Bubba !
Over the weekend I did a bit of a tidy-up of my Bubba, basically deleting downloads I no longer wanted and moving those I did over to a seperate directory on Bubba, I find that Windows Media Center gets very slow when there are two many media files in the same directory (why must it rebuild it's thu...

This happens to me occasionally, I use a cheap, Belkin router and it can go for months and months without failing and then twice in a week it will lose connection with the outside world and need to be rebooted. The log files to tell me what went wrong on this router are very poor. Originally I thoug...

I agree that a little bit of Linux knowledge is required to get full use from a Bubba, but one of the main reasons I bought it is that it came configured with a fully operation mailserver/webserver out of the box. The reliability is very high, in fact most times I forget about it never had to reboot...

For what it's worth, 10W is noise against the background of power use in a typical house. We're talking about £10 to £15 a year, I reckon. Computing doesn't get more frugal than that. This is one hell of a piece of kit. Yep, I totally agree with this statement. I would never want to have Bubba po...

I had a similar problem last time I tried to update from the Sarge sources and it was some missing dependency on some package relating to dhclient. However, my web interface and bubba packages were unaffected. PS - I guess I have the record for the fastest Bubba breakage, when removing it from it's ...

Completely unconnected with Bubba, but I was recently working on a similar issue regarding accessing network and printers anonymously via a Windows share, it used to work OK with Windows Server 2003 and when we upgraded to WinXP anonymous access was rejected. Turned out that for security issues Micr...

Any news on a super Bubba ?
I've had my Bubba for almost a year now and I know in the past there has been talk about ideas for a 'Super Bubba' Is there any news on this ? I would definetely buy another Bubba which had a slightly higher throughput. Not that it's a problem with my current Bubba but occasionally streaming video s...
