Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3

Hello everyone, At long last I finally finished working on the minimal jessie image for both Excito Bubba|2 and B3. These images are constructed from 3 different projects : the jessie OS image itself, a new install/rescue system and a new installer script. More details on these further in this post....

Re: Debian dist-upgrade on B2 & B3

Where we will you announce the release so that I do not miss it? Right here in a few minutes  Is the reinstalling process documented somewhere? Will it be the same as the one documented on the wiki (http://wiki.excito.com/w/index.php?titl ... a2_/_B3#B3)? It will be documented here for now Wh...

Re: best way to upgrade question

- Is the installation procedure above correct? Lokks good but you should probably wait for the jessie image. How can I install and configure a firewall (just like the original B3)? You have several options for that. I use firehol personnaly but you should check the debian firewall wiki page for alt...

Puma wrote:Does the minimal debian include a firewall, postfix, samba, apache, fetchmail, openssh?
Or do we have to install that personally?
The jessie image will only include openssh because without it it would be pretty useless  As for the rest it's up to you and what you want your b3 to do.

Re: Successful dist-upgrade to wheezy on a B3

Which method is to favor? The best way is to do a clean install of the system using the soon-to-be-released jessie image. If the latter - has the bubba kernel package additionally to be installed afterwards (by means of dpkg) or is it already part of the image? It will already be a part of the imag...

Re: Debian dist-upgrade on B2 & B3

I would like to move my b3 (wheezy) to jessie. I just found your github repositories (https://github.com/Excito/). What is the "good" way to upgrade (or reinstall to get plain jessie box) ? I will release the jessie image and installer in a few days. The best way would be to reinstall you...

Re: Practical, up-to-date (2015) use-cases for a B3?

This is really great news!! Now running standard 2.6.0.2 on 3x B3 servers.. The images are plain minimal debian install and do not feature the excito administration interface. I don't use it myself and it's far too much work to port to jessie. Will it be a complete image we can install from usb sti...

Re: Practical, up-to-date (2015) use-cases for a B3?

In the meantime I’m cheering for Mouette to publish a easy peasy installer for the latest Debian and when that’s ready, I’m going to try to make the B3 run a ASP.Net 5 web server. As a matter of fact the jessie images for b2/b3 are ready I'm just about to test the brand new install system so stay t...

Re: Practical, up-to-date (2015) use-cases for a B3?

For me the use case is "2 TB ultra-silent, power-frugal, fast NAS with normal Linux on-board" and "SSH server at home that is up 24/7". Frankly, there is currently no alternative on the market. Zero, none. I totally agree with that ; there are some alternatives but they all lack...

Re: Debian dist-upgrade on B2 & B3

You can try these steps but there is no warranty that it will work on your configuration. Without a serial connection you will probably need to troubleshoot your configuration from a rescue stick in case you b2 doesn't boot anymore. That being steps here are the steps you should take: First update t...

Re: Debian dist-upgrade on B2 & B3

So does the b3-utils replace the bubba-buttond and bubba-status which I have installed. If so this could maby be reflected in the configuration of the b3-utils package. The jessie image will be install-only (no upgrade) so this case didn't really cross my mind. I will make another release just with...

Re: OLD bubba 1 owner, jumping in w/ B3, could use upgrade h

I have had my bubba 1 for a very long time, and have just purchased a B3 chassis and install USB key wanting to transfer data and capability over before it dies. Can I reach out for a quick guide to getting my B3 imaged to the most recent versions of software? This wiki page would be a good start. ...

Re: Debian dist-upgrade on B2 & B3

The layout of files controlling the leds have changed on newer kernel ; to control the leds you have to use : /sys/class/leds/bubba3:blue:active/brightness /sys/class/leds/bubba3:green:programming/brightness /sys/class/leds/bubba3:red:error/brightness which controls the blue/green/red leds available...

Re: Easyfind migration

There have a very small downtime (~2 min) today because of a kernel update. Do you still have difficulties ? Easyfind on my own b2 works fine.
