Re: Upgrade Full RAID B3 from squeeze towards jessie
Hi Koen, I think there is a Wiki that explains how to convert your current OS into vanilla Squeeze. If you're going to do the upgrade path, I'd definitely follow that one first and remove all the Excito related packages, because their dependencies will without any doubt cause you trouble. Hi Gordon...

Upgrade Full RAID B3 from squeeze towards jessie
Everyone, I'm starting this new thread in follow-up of the few questions I posted here Briefly put: I have a B3 with squeeze in full raid (so not only /home) which I like to see upgraded to jessie still in full raid. Reason: I use my B3 almost exclusively for hosting an Owncloud server. Todays clien...

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3
Please note that the RAID only applies to bubba-storage, i.e. everything under /home. It does not mirror your root partition, which includes /var where your MySQL databases are stored by default. Also, most SQL variants are absolute bitches when it comes to upgrading. You may find that the current ...

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3
It is a fresh install however if you already removed all the excito packages from your B3 I would recommend doing a manual upgrade of your B3 ( apt-get dist-upgrade ) that way you'll keep your data and configuration. I can help you with that and provide the steps. I actually didn't remove any excit...

Re: Debian jessie image 1.0 released for Bubba|2 / B3
Hi Mouette and others, Long time since visiting the forum. Nice to see the community is still alive after what has happened to Excito in the past, thumb's up! :-) My B3 is still quietly running (since a few years now) and apart from some occasional updates and basic script adaptations I haven't been...

Re: B3 RAID status problem
As an extra you can actually put your B3 in Full-Raid (not only the data).
So no need anymore for doing re-installations.
See here: http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4338

and the excito howto's

Koen

Re: Accessing u-boot variables from linux
Yes, sometimes software RAID over eSATA gets degraded. But the rebuild kicks in automagically and takes only a few hours. In the mean time both disks are accessible and all but the most recent changes are identical on both disks. In other words: a software raid1 thats out of sync is a non-issue for...

Re: Accessing u-boot variables from linux
Hi Mouette, well everything still seems to be working fine since I made the changes. Just one strange thing happened: after first reboot, when I had the B3 in full-raid, I checked the Raid status with cat /proc/mdstat and found the Raid broken. So I rebuild the raid and rebooted to see if this was h...

Re: Wifi stopped working...
Since you connect USB items to your B3 I suppose you're using a USB hub. Is it a USB hub where you can plug an additional power adaptor? If yes you might want to try that. In that case the power supply of the B3 is less 'stressed' If it is a power supply issue, it might indeed be the Power Supply it...

Re: Wifi stopped working...
Wild guess: What if some part of the circuitry that is related to eSATA is broken and generates interference in the Wifi spectrum?

Re: Fireplay permission? [SOLVED]
in /etc/forked-daapd.conf you see the uid:daapd folder where songs3.db is located is owned by dnsmasq:root (why that is out of box this way I haven't figured out) at least that's what I noticed yesterday while having same problem. I just changed folder owner to daapd. chown daapd:root /var/cache/for...

max3232 can also handle 5V power supply and lucky for you, this comes right from your USB port

Re: Wifi stopped working...
For what it's worth: If I understood well in some reading on this forum, Wifi and internal Lan are closely related together inside the B3 (by some form of bridging?). I suppose your wired LAN is connected to some switch. - did you try to change the patch cord from B3 to switch? - use another port on...

Re: no music, nor firefly access
Sorry for hacking this topic. My issue is closely related to this. I have the same problems as topic starter and have been running tru the steps mentioned I figured it was going to be easy-peasy as: admin@b3:~$ /etc/init.d/forked-daapd status forked-daapd is not running. So I issued: admin@b3:~$ /et...
