I tested with a VM with Ubuntu server 32 , 256 mb RAM, 8 gig hd.
It's working very well , lot's of programs and functionality already present.
No I don't see any torrent down load .

I have the Bubba I and is very quiet, if you get a quiet HD you can't hear him also at night, I use a WD and I will put a WD 1T green on the new Bubba II .
But in any case I personally don't see any problem with noise, is more noising my 3Com hub wich have an inside fan

I agree with msx is a desktop replacement , like the eeepc ( i use it right now ) but with out monitor , keyb and mouse.
Not bad, but not good for server, 2,5" HD are not big they came only on small size at list for now.
So I think bubba II is the right choice for server
