Changed MAC on Arch B3?
I've noticed that my B3 is using "0e:....." MAC address on network cards instead of "00:...", as it used to. In sakaki's wiki, there are some notions that due to how kernel is loaded, special care must be taken when changing network card params. The question is: how can I revert ...

Good thing then that Arch by sakaki aims to create swap as second partition

Re: 5GHz not working
Yeah, shame I cannot update the software on the card in any way... That'd be the real solution.
Anyway, since the kernel is much newer now, I used backports-4.0.1-1. The patch still works, and I'm running 5 GHz AP with my proper regulatory domain set in drivers.
Yay!

So, I'm now giving Arch Linux a try and have the same issue. Re: ZFS on B3?
:D Ok, you made mi smile here. Anyway, believe it or not but I usually try to create neat, simple solutions. I have some prior experience with running ZFS on Solaris and remember reading some time ago that ZFS can now be used not only via FUSE. Turns out that running it on B3 might not be such a goo...

Re: Replacing the B3 boot hard drive
Scratch my last comment. With 3TB HGST NAS drive: # hdparm -Tt /dev/sda /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 592 MB in 2.00 seconds = 295.92 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 392 MB in 3.01 seconds = 130.20 MB/sec So, controller is actually capable of quite high speed - the bottleneck is later, with the ...

Re: ZFS on B3?
Ubi, I really appreciate your services to community, and general willingness to help, but sometimes you're really getting on my nerves. Your technical knowledge seems to come from 15-20 years of experience, but the way you write sometimes sounds like you're 15 yourself. I have a friend that our bunc...

Re: ZFS on B3?
Ubi, you seem not to know much about JPEGs :-) One bit will make (in best case) half of you photo in render with funny colors, and althought I have a couple ideas floating on how to fix that, I have yet to find a ready program that fixes this. TIFF, more true. Also, this is a _real_ problem that I e...

Re: ZFS on B3?
Guys, I have a high esteem of your skills, but you seem to be missing the point here. Do you know what bit-rot is? http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/01/bitrot-and-atomic-cows-inside-next-gen-filesystems/ So, a standard drive will degrade data at rate of about 10^-14 bits (meaning 1 ...

Re: ZFS on B3?
Hm, I was asking because after a few years I started to discover some bit-rot on my photo archive. ZFS offers quite nice protection against that, LVM is just a container system.
Need to check if btrfs does anything about this.

Just wondering if anyone would be willing to part with S1? I could use an ESATA drive, and S1 matches B3's looks

ZFS on B3?
Given the new ArchLinux build, did anyone test the performance of running ZFS on B3? Is it even possible?

Re: Excito B3 NAS - ethernet turned off
So it runs if you use another disk, but you need to check what's wrong with software on current disk? Is that right?
If so, I see two options: run the device from rescue stick (which would allow to check if all is OK with the drive), or solder serial connection and debug over serial.

Re: Set up your Arch B3 as a WiFi Access Point / Server
I, for one, am grateful for the guide. I am using a cable modem, and B3 as my gateway/5GHz wifi AP (I have other APs working on 2.4).

So, back on track. I followed the guide here: https://sites.google.com/site/bingsite/protocol-service/vpn-ipsec/ubuntu-ipsec-tools-racoon---juniper-ssg5-screenos-6-2 It *seems* to work, "seems" being the keyword. Problem is, tunnel gets up (confirmed with tcpdump, logs on racoon and logs o...
