Could you perhaps comment on the squeezecenter performance on BubbaTwo? Number of tracks, rescan duration, web interface responsiveness etc? Performance is fine - a bit slower than running it from my main PC but not enough to cause problems. Certainly transcoding FLAC files works fine, as does Alie...

I considered installing the AlienBBC plugin for Squeezecentre with some trepidation as I've had problems getting it to run on my PC. However, with nothing more than apt-get install mplayer and unpacking the latest AlienBBC into /usr/share/squeezecentre then chmod a+x /usr/share/squeezecentre/Plugins...

It seems to have installed fine, dragging a great number of dependencies with it, but port 9000 remains silent.
Is there further config to be done? Any clues for the next step much welcomed.

There is a software player included with the server software, but any player that can play an mp3 stream can connect without a problem.

This is a limitation of FAT32 : you will have to reformat the drive or split the file.
NTFS is (I understand) not a good idea for flash drives as it is a journaled FS and so rewrites the disk more often. ext2 would do and has drivers available for Win XP.
