Re: How to fix corrupt primary GPT table?

Do I really need to take out the disk of my B3 and put it in a system with more advanced disk/partitioning tools to address this issue?
I'm afraid in my experience the answer is "yes"...

EDIT:
Minor spelling mistake.

Re: B3 extremely slow, even after reinstall - hardware failu

Hi rxmd, This is a complete wild stab in the dark and might (and probably is unrelated to your problem), but here goes: I have on several occasions noticed a severe performance on the most simplest commands on various Linux machines. On those occasions it turned out to be related to name resolution;...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6.

Quick question: Am I the only one finding myself without a /home/web/ directory after this upgrade? Or was it the work of marauders? If it was the intentional work of the patch (which I could understand), would it not have been nice to warn people before removing the contents? If you release a patch...

Re: error updating B2: tor-geoipdb

Hi guys, I see the same on my B2. It is because there is a newer version of this package in the powerpc repositories: root@b2:/etc# apt-cache policy tor-geoipdb tor-geoipdb: Installed: 0.2.2.35-1~squeeze+1+nmu1 Candidate: 0.2.3.25-1~bpo60+1 Version table: 0.2.3.25-1~bpo60+1 0 999 http://b3.update.ex...

Re: I have been attacked and don't know why.

Hi samards, When they brought the B2 code-line somewhat in-line with the B3 one, they had to do it in a manual install release (2.4.1). So, in order to get your B2 up-to-date, you have to re-install it using an USB stick. There is no web install. See: http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f=22&t...

Re: I have been attacked and don't know why.

By "patch" did you mean the 2.6 update? Check in the web interface, it should say: 2.6.0.1 http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4654 Yes, someone is looking for a poorly configured wordpress installation. Happens all the time, and as you can see, it fails (404). If they'd found...

Re: I have been attacked and don't know why.

Hi, [*]Removed execution permission for all the cgi's in the folder. [*]Disable crontab and shell for www-data [*]Commented out this in 'default' virtualhost (I don't need any of the CGI so why not) You also applied the patch right? 500 should mean "Internal Server Error" or similar, so it...

Re: I have been attacked and don't know why.

There is actually a noticeable change of the number of ssh attacks when I get a new dynamic IP address fro my ISP. Some times the new address brings with it a flood of attacks, sometimes they simply seem to stop with the new address. These attacks don't seem to vary in the same way, making me think ...

Re: I have been attacked and don't know why.

I've also noticed a lot more of these. And yesterday there where two defunct instances of php5.orig started by www-data... (I created a cron job to watch for processes owned by this user). I used to send abuse reports too, mainly for ssh attacks (rarely got replies either), until after one such repo...

Re: SSL FTP and VPN help pleeeeease!

Hi Hammer, Regarding the VPN part of your question: Do you really want a permanent connection through OpenVPN for all your traffic through the B3? I used my old B2 for such a setup for a while. The toll on the CPU because of encryption/decryption made it useless (100/100 Mbps reduced to something li...

Re: Migrate from a Bubba (B1) to a B3

Hi Jocke, I've done this twice (from Bubba Server to B2, then from B2 to B3). I think I have just used rsync every time to sync /home to the new machine. I set up a cron job to resync all the user directories (except admin!) every night whilst I re-implemented all the changes I had made to the previ...

Re: I have been attacked and don't know why.

Hi all, I only just recently noticed this too (Novemeber 4th) CPU was running high. top showed several "perl" processes, but they where not in the ps output. There was a lot of stuff started by www-data via /sbin/init though. Since then port 80 has been blocked in my firewall, I have remov...

Re: B3 heating even if not ON.

@cheeseboy: having a device use tellstick to turn itself on is of course paradoxical. This will require a second computer that needs to be on to trigger the switch. Essentially this is no different from Wake-on-LAN, which also requires a different computer to send the wake signal. I very much agree...
