Re: Bubba 2 Crashes transfering large data over network

Thanks carl, that would explain it.

2.6.30.1 seems rock solid to me. Been using it for a good couple of months with no issues.

Re: The need for CouchDB and Erlang

as long as the package is PPC or noarch, it should be fine. There are several different ways to do it, from adding the right repo to your sources and installing, or just downloading the .deb file and manually installing it. It depends on your experience really. Check the erlang details online first ...

Re: Different MySql confirguration on cold restart

A couple of ways the config can change in MySQL:

Starting or restarting it as the wrong user, so it doesn't have permissions for the my.cnf file and runs with a default setup
Starting or running it as a different user that has its own config
corrupt config file

Re: No access to BUBBA2 after latest upgrade

Have you tried creating the boot USB device and booting from it, so you can see if their is any physical issues?

You can then look at the disks, and maybe get a better idea of what is blocking the boot sequence.

ISO for the USB disk is on the Excito site.

Re: Bubba2 as print server: Brother printers

Hi There, Lots of people having exactly the same issue with Brother printers, both here and on the OpenPrinting forum. Unfortunately Brother have not yet agreed to release their driver files so that they can be recompiled in PPC format and claim to have tried to do it themselves but failed. Couple o...

Re: Gigabit LAN connection with an average speed of 2,5 MB p/s

Is there ANY progress on this matter? It is getting really annoying... Yep, as has been said a few times, the kernel in the unstable repo is much improved, but its your risk if you want to install it. Give Excito some time and be a little patient :) They will release a new patch as soon as they are...

Have a look back through the forums. There was a howto about 2 weeks ago telling you how to secure the outside webserver.

Re: Gigabit LAN connection with an average speed of 2,5 MB p/s

Hi BullDog, If you have virtually no SysAdmin experience on Linux, I would strongly recommend waiting and being patient. I've been running on the 2.6.30.1 kernel from the unstable repo for quite a while with no side effects and performance is much improved, so that my sons can play ther MMORPG's wit...

Re: Backup on USB work or not??

log in through SSH and kill the process is the fast and dirty answer. There is no option on the GUI yet to stop a running job. Its dirty and terminates the process with no opportunity for it to clean up after itself. Don't try this if you don't have some experience using Command Line, as you can mak...

Re: Adding a Printer (error)

Looking at Brother's website, they only supplu a i386 driver and not a PPC or noarch driver, so this might bet tricky.

It might be possible to get them working using a generic driver possibly. Possibly using the foomatics libraries
