B3 final sale!

Post by johannes »

Excito is stuck with a quite large stock of B3's, due to an over-optimistic production run ordered by some sales guy. As you might have seen in the shop we have a quite low price now, but this does not cut it, so I wonder if anyone would have use for a higher amount of B3's? We are willing to give a really attractive discount if you buy 5 or more.

Note that the only variant still in stock is without HDD, without wifi.

buy 5, pay for 3
buy 10, pay for 6
buy 50...

Email me if this is of interest!

Hmmm... Anyone ever tried building a cluster of B3's? :D

I can't see any B3's for sale in the store, only the USB sticks.

Funny, strange bug. I'll try to figure out why but you can see it from the front page (excitostore.com), just click the buy-now link instead.

You would probably get 10 and €60 returned ;)

There are a few "ifs" I'd like to know the answer to before buy any new B3s.

-Could I insert a new empty 4TB (WD Green) hdd and use the complete size in a B3?
-Will the wiki pages still be here?
-Will the forum still be here?

Thanks

I second that. Plus, for me the more important issue is the question of software. The current Debian version is ageing dangerously (meaning that the B3 is e.g. completely open to CVE-2014-6271). So, my personal "if" is if there is any hope of the B3 being supported by some more recent Linux distribution in the near future. For me, a stock Debian would suffice - I do not absolutely need the B3 web UI (as nice as it was, though).

So, is there any hope for the B3 being supported by a more recent Linux version...?

I am concern by the exact same trouble since CVE-2014-6271 is not yet completely solved as explained by CVE-2014-7169 (see http://www.shellshock.fr for more details).

I will buy one new b3 just to try setting up an upgrade to recent debian (wheezy at least and jessie at best) without taking any chance of my "production" one.

Any chance b3 code (kernel patches at least) could be free'd ?

Did you try to pay by card? Excito is from tuesday formally in bankruptcy - therefor our account with the card company is automatically frozen, at least temporarily. I don't know what will happen next, I will meet with the bankruptcy administrator on monday and ask how to proceed. I will keep you updated.

I guess that this sale is no longer active due to the bankruptcy.

The shop is now closed since we cannot manage shipping single orders (a lot of practical things broke due to the bankruptcy, such as our deal with the shipping agent), but there is still 100+ B3 (no wifi, no disk) in stock, and the bankruptcy administrator is eager to get them sold. So email me with a bid if you are interested. Preferrably higher quantities, or he may not bother..
