LED light

Post by jws »

The blue LED light is now on the "front", while everything else is at the "back". Difficult for the user, especially if the device is placed in some out-of-the-way position (as it normally would be). So far I resolved the problem using a small mirror, but this is clearly sub-optimal.

Possible improvements:

1. Move the blue LED to the back as well ( the "back" would then become the "front"). This would be the best solution by far.
2. Move the reset button to the front. This would cure several usability problems, although it would still leave the problem of "how to use the rescue stick" which requires attention to the usb port, power socket, blue light, and reset button at the same time.

And BTW a functional "rescue stick" would be a very useful addition to a Bubba distribution. Customers should not be unduly worried. Including a cheap stick (which simply works) would prevent users worrying about "partition tables" on the stick.

jws,

Look at Image (just an example...)
(dunno yet how to insert an image;-)
(edit: just found out)

You can buy these toys anywhere for ~ $1,-

Cut ONE fiber off,

one drop of superglue on the fiber, fix on LED.

Lead it anywhere you want. (a quality optic fibre of 50m will even transport the light to your bedroom;-)

Regards and have fun!

A brilliant solution! But for now I'll stick to the low-tech method of using a small mirror.
