More ethernet ports?

Post by RandomUsername »

For me, the WLAN addon for the Bubba Two is pointless as I still need to run a multi-port ethernet switch - which in real life means a domestic all-in-one router/switch/wifi access point.

Actually, it's worse for me because I have ADSL so my setup is:

Internet
|
ISP supplied router with built in wifi set to bridging mode with wifi disabled.
|
Bubba Two performing all DNS/DHCP/firewall duties
|
Belkin router set to only operate as a switch and WAP

So, in short, I don't need a third wifi capable device on my network :)

I'd really like to be able to reduce the number of devices I have running.

Is it possible, once work on the WLAN add on has been completed, that you might get round to adding more ethernet ports to either the Bubba Two or any future versions of the Bubba server? I don't even know if it's technically possible to add more ethernet ports to the Bubba Two - maybe via the mini PCI interface (but that would prevent someone from using the WLAN addon).

A built in DSL modem would probably be too much to ask given the breadth and depth of different DSL
configurations out there (never mind cable, satellite etc).

Only if one could trunk them to build a 2, 3-4 GB port....

VLAN would be nice too... 8)
