Dog logger! need help..

Here my case:
I have a dog, and it sometimes makes a LOT of noice when it's home alone.
Hence, i want to display the _level_ of noice in my home(e.g. during the last 6 hours) on a web page. This will be very useful, and hopefully keep me from getting complaints from my neighbours about the dog.
I'm hoping you can help me getting started and guiding me in the right direction for creating a system for this using the Bubba Two.
What kind of microphone should i use? I guess it must be a usb-mic, or a web camera. I have a Logitech Quickcam Messenger webcam. Will it be compatible with the bubba?
And the biggest challenge: How can i log the level of sound from it?
