Hi everyone,

A new version of BubbaMon is available.

Changes from previous version:
  • Support for new Firefox 6.*
  • Updated links to homepage so they point at the new location
  • Removed BubbaMon settings from Tools menu, in accordance with FF Add-On Guidelines. You can access the settings by right clicking the BubbaMon statusbar area or from the Tools->Add-Ons page
Known issues:
  • The firmware on B2 and B3 doesn't allow access to system information as regular user, only download information. A workaround is available here for B2 and here for B3.
  • The ratio calculation may be incorrect. This is because the information from the bubba is incorrect. Excito has been notified
The new version is available for download from my new homepage at http://stenarson.com

On those days, it is better to act as: never touch a running system

I bet this addon works on FF7, just install "add on compatibility reporter" to enable it to install.

Works fine. There is a boolean you can add to about:config to disable compatibility checking. Just add

Code: Select all

extensions.checkCompatibility.7.0
and set it to false.

I concur: If it ain't broke, don't fix it :-)

This however is a different matter; me not being able to keep up with this new, ridiculous, rapid release cycle they are using for firefox.

A new version of BubbaMon is coming any day now.

Couldn't you just release versions compatible with all Firefox-versions up to 12 or so right now? They will probably be there soon enough anyway...

But there isn't any guarantee they will be compatible. Probably for something with a small user base like BubbaMon there won't be too many complaints if it suddenly stops working after an update to FF, but imagine the fuss if something like LastPass stopped working because they'd done that.

:D I've been tempted, but I better not. Disabling the compatibility check is probably better.

One solution would be to submit BubbaMon to Mozilla Add-Ons for hosting, but that requires the add-on comply with a couple of rules, one of them being the add-on must be useful to an "appropriately wide portion of Firefox's users". Not sure how many that is, but I fear BubbaMon doesn't have enough users.

There are other benefits of having it hosted on Mozilla (like automatic notification on updates), so I'm working on increasing the user base.
