Hi,

We have now pushed the new kernel into our repositories which would hopefully resolve the hang/freeze issues.

To upgrade log into the web ui as admin.

Go to the Settings menu then select Update. Click "Update system". Wait for the upgrade to complete. Then, very important, restart your unit.

(This is exactly the same kernel as the one mentioned in the "freeze/hang issue" thread. So if you already installed the 2.6.26.5-8 kernel and modules package you wont get/need any upgrade)

How do i tell which kernel version my bubba's using? Lib/modules/ has a directory named 2.6.26.5 Does this mean that i'm using 2.6.26.5? Is this the correct version?
I tried updating using the web interface and also using apt-get dist-upgrade, but i don't seem to need any upgrades.

To check which kernel version that is installed, log in to Bubba via ssh and issue the command:

Code: Select all

dpkg -s bubba-kernel bubba-modules
Both should show the version 1:2.6.26.5-8

Tried an update via apt-get, but it hasn't updated anything again. i've got kernel version 1:2.6.26.5-2 should I reboot? I tried upgrading several times, but as far as I can see nothing has happened this week.

[edit] I have not installed squeezecentre does this explain why my kernel won't update? [/edit]

Hi Eek, thanks for your suggestion.
I tried updating via ssh.
However, the first time it failed; for some reason it wanted me to configure Squeezecenter first (which I simply started using the indicated command).
After that the update via ssh was successful.
Right now my Bubba uses version 1:2.6.26.5-8

Excito: Would this Squeezecenter configuration issue explain why the web-gui upgrade didn't complete the full kernel upgrade on my system?

Regarding failed upgades.

If an upgrade does not succeed, please contact support@excito.com. We have a known issue with some upgrade paths that involves squeezecenter that could render the web based upgrader useless in some rare cases :( (RobV, i think this answers your question?)

Binkem, which setup do you have if you doesn't have Squeezecenter installed? Have you uninstalled the bubba-packages altogether?

Can´t upgrade through web interface either.
Tried several times and still 1:2.6.26.5-2
How to solve this?
Edit:
Just tried updating through ssh also, no go.

I get this line in the services tab:
SqueezeCenter - Squeezebox™ and Transporter® streaming
Squeezecenter isn't installed, please click here to install squeezecenter.
I guess I never installed this feature on my bubba (no squeezebox)

I don't use SqueezeCenter but can't get the new kernel. My B2 is very default running the latest version. So, i'll think there is something wrong with the upgrade procedure.

Same here.
Very default, but no cigar.

Tried both ssh and web gui.

For some reason, unknown to me, I then tried shutting all services through web gui and then doing the upgrade. Still no luck.

tried updating again today and now it did the trick using the web-interface.
- one minus is that I had to reboot my bubba once more! That's the second time I don't make it past 100 days uptime due to net bubba software ;)
